Unfortunately, I heard as soon as you put in a new HDD, the PS3 asks you to format it first. There might another way, but putting the HDD in your new PS3 might not work:(

Wow... is the Yellow Light rare?

i don't know, but it only happends with the 20 and the 60gb version's. that's why i bought a 40gb version

I heard yellow light of death is if u stoopid and leave da ststem on too too much and ting

it first happend to me while i was playing mgo, first it turned down and the red light started flashing, and then when i turned it on the yellow light problem happened

the 60 gb might have the yellow light of death problem. the 40 gb has a diferent part (i don't know wich one) that doesn't makes that happen(i know because my technitian told me). i had the 60gb version and i had that problem, because i live in uruguay i couldn't fix it, i bought the 40gb version
