Zelda is overrated, a very good game but not an eye opener like Ocarina or Majora's Mask. Odyssey I havent played but it seems to be taking the series in a new-ish direction.

As for the PS4 has Horizon this year (again I havent played it) and the very highly rated GT Sport (I dont like it), along with the UC spin off which is a semi sequel to one of the most highly rated games this gen and an entire plethora of major AAA 3rd party exclusives. The Switch can't compete with that.

Oh and the PC has Original Sin 2, which I have DLd but haven't got a chance to play, although that has been rated as one of the best RPGs ever. Again, add in a plethora of AAA 3rd party exclusives and it beats The Switch.

When some of the best games this gen wont be released on Nintys console, possibly ever, how can it be system of any year?

How is Nintendo getting mentions? They are not a game developer but a publisher, with a number of studios they have bought out (especially since the start of the 2000s). It's like claiming Sony is a game developer and arguably one of the best if you take into account hit after hit but guess what? They too just own development studios as an umbrella organisation.

Now, CDPR is a developer or SE or Capcom.

Personally, a more accurate question would be "who is your favourite publisher?"

@jahnee: Man, you skip between several points and ideas withing the span of 4 paragraphs. It makes your whole thread confused. What is your problem? Scrpited games? Loot boxes? Microtansactions? The potential for gambling? Scripted demos? Non in game demos? You have confused and combined several different, at times, unrelated problems.

Sticking to the topic expressed in your thread title, I agree, the entire gaming community is somewhat responsible for allowing developers to get away with microtransactions, leading to a normalisation of a once niche practice. Not just that, these games are released at full price (anywhere between £40-50 in the UK) and then they expect incremental payments throughout the game, whether it be sp or mp.

However, there is a bigger culprit and that is the media, whether it be sites like this or IGN or any other, or whether it be YT reviewers under the guise of being independent but in reality involved in the same scam. Take the highly rated ACG channel on YT and its recent review of AC Origins. He literally papers over the microtransactions, says a line which basically equates to "whatever" and then moves on. One of the few channels that actually speak honestly on this issue and do so at their own risk is Pretty Good Gaming.

Collectively, those of us smart enough to see beyond marketing need to hold both other gamers and the media to account.

@GameboyTroy: It can feel fast in a minority if instances but not most of the time and it never feels as fast and fluid as other racers, which was my main point. Remember, I am speaking comparatively and on that front, GT is now years behind other games in terms of sound, feel and content. Its sad because I bought every GT game up to 4 and it was my second fave series after GTA.

@NukleaWorfair: That is a better thread idea.

First time played a console....SNES (probably around 1994 I guess, I must have been like 5)

First PC game I played...I cant even remember the name but it was a side scrolling game where you have to jump over crocodiles

First time I played a game and went "wow!"....MGS 1, what an experience!

First time I played a round of Mario Kart 64 with my friends....and got into a bust up lol

First time I played a wrestling game....WWE Smackdown for the PS1 and I was blown away by how realistic The Rock looked lol

@GTR12: Did you think the controller worked well? Were you using the sticks, buttons or sensors?

I agree, the cars didnt feel right either, again, I put that down to poor controller input. IN terms of the actual pure driving, I wont know till I play using a peripheral and that wont happen because unless theres a major price drop in the next few months.

I must say, the racing game I have enjoyed the most overt he last few years has been the F1 series. Just really good, really fun, lots of simulation depending on how to tune your settings and ultimately, a real sense of speed, which is what I want in a game. In an era where loot boxes and online racing have become a major hindrance, I enjoy a series with an in depth single player component and an optional, well made mp section.
