@soul_starter: there were some locations that looked quite nice but in general the level of detail, the animations, the hazy draw distance, the frame rate drops did disappoint me, particularly in comparison with the graphical quality of other games of recent times such as mgsv, gta v, doom, uc4, arkham knight etc. but graphics aren't everything, sounds like you're really getting in to it, i'm glad you're enjoying it. it'll be interesting to see how you feel after 20-30 hours

how would u rate it compared to FO3 & New Vegas

I haven't actually encountered any frame rate drops and the draw distance is always great. I know what you mean by the haze but I think that's supposed to be there. MGSV definitely looks better though but it's not as large a game world or as heavily populated. GTA V even on the PS3 is just beautiful at times but those are pretty high bench marks for gaming aesthetics.

And so far, I'd rate FO3 better as it wasn't as linear (story wise) and Washington seemed like a better setting. I never much liked New Vegas so FO 4 is definitely better.

So, here is my top 20 (might do a little write up for each one later):

1. GTA: Vice City

2. Red Dead Redemption

3. Elder Scrolls: Skyrim

4. GTA: San Andreas

5. GTA V

6. Far Cry 3

7. L.A. Noire

8. Batman: Arkham Knight

9. Far Cry 2

10. Elder Scrolls: Oblivion

11. Fall Out 3

12. The Witcher 2

13. Burnout Paradise

14. Infamous Second Son

15. Everybody's gone to the Rapture

16. Mercenaries 2

17. GTA IV

18. Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

19. True Crime: New York

20. Final Fantasy XII

I've had to leave out Witcher 3 (haven't played enough of it) and Fallout 4 (haven't finished it).

Just spent some time going through the commonwealth and what a world those folks have crafted. There is always something to do, somewhere to discover or explore and a lot of weird things to kill. I remember when the game was originally released a lot of gamers were complaining about the graphics and although the character models look half arsed, the environments are stunning, absolutely beautiful and a lot of the cityscape is so dense and richly designed.

Now, off to finish the freedom trail.

@killered3:

Agreed with that!

V is a massive play ground, brimming with things to do, although I preferred GTA IV onlines more basic approach. Having said that, Vice City and San Andreas are still superior games. And I don't say that because of nostalgia, they genuinely are.

@storm_of_swords: I kinda agree with you but it's also the worry modern trend of consumers licking the boots of major companies as if they have some stake in them. It's like people still supporting Capcom for putting out half arsed games and seeing no problem in spending more money over a broken game.

I think we need a gender neutral, amorphous blob with no preferred sexual orientation as our next gaming hero, Flubber anyone?

Great thread idea!In no particular order:

Mass Effect 2

Fallout 3

Red Dead Redemption

GTA V

MGS 4

Now, some of those spots could easily have gone to Fight Night 4, Skyrim, Far Cry 2, COD:MW2, Mario Galaxy 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Fifa 12 (the best football game ever) and some others.

I gotta agree, as much as I disliked KZ1 the sequel was great, looked great and that multiplayer was awesome but why do you want a remaster? You'd have to pay to play online when you could just use your old disc and play on PS3.

So, I've played about 8 or 9 hours and just came across the first truly affecting and truly Fallout-ey moment, that of Cabot House. Now, this will obviously have spoilers so look away if you haven't yet played the game, for those who have, I wana know what you choice here was?

I helped Lorenzo escape and then helped him slaughter his entire family, kinda like when I let the atom bomb go off in FO3...and it affected me. I felt bad about it and was about to go back pre-save but then I decided to live with this decision. It took a while but I just witnessed/took part in FO4s first great moment.

I...am....a bit. It's basically a return to what we want from FF, at least I hope so. The demos have been underwhelming though and the combat looks a bit hit and miss.
