Ok so it seems like Sony is using lower quality materials for the Slim because it's been two months a some days more since i bought my Slim and the metallic panel were the on and eject buttons are located is losing the metallic color. It looks like a small stain but it's not a stain it is actually that the panel losing the metallic paint.

Before you ask, yes i take good care of the system and i rarely use the on button cause i use the Bravia Sync feature.

dude no dont 60 GB's are more prone to Yellow light of death (just a warning)if it wasn't for that id honestly get it

That thing about the yellow light that people like you are talking is nonsence, they only heard this on the net and keep repeating the same thing on different forums. The yellow light indicates that any of the internal components of the system is not working i necessary doesn't means that the problem is the GPU or CPU like some people a saying.

WOW and now they come with more cooling paste, then you should change it. I really don't know what's all that talk about checking the cooling paste nowadays in consoles. COMPUTER HAVE IT AND PEOPLE AREN'T WORRY ABOUT IT AND CHECKING IT EVERY TIME. I opened up my 60gb myself. There was hardly any cooling paste on the CPU or GPU.

It depends on what you are looking for, in my opinion the first models are the best ones and superior to the current ones. I have one of the Slim models and before it i had a 40GB one and wile the new one look cool and is smaller for the the old models had a more expensive look to them.

Here's why i think the old ones were better:

1.The exterior of the old ones were more suceptible to scratches but were of highter quality and the top was like metal quality with the logo in it.

2.Rotable P Logo.

3.Power swith on the back of the power supply.

4.Four USB ports for games like RockBand.

5.3 SD card slots.

6.full PS2 games compatability (Made possible by internal PS2 component).

7.ability use Linux.

IN THE END IT DEPENDS IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR THOSE FEATURES AND ARE GOING TO USE THEM.

[QUOTE="Keir21"]DO NOT. I Was told by Sony themselves that 60gb's are more prone to failure. Backwards compatibility is an overrated feature. I can guarantee you won't be using it.

It seems people that don't have the 60GB cause for wathever reasons couldn't afford it keep saying what some say online. Dude yellow light means any internal component is not working, it applies to all models, it can be CPU, GPU, Power Supply, Mother Board, a cable, Disc Drive, etc.

[QUOTE="jcopp72"]Backwards compatability will probably not come back, PS2 is being phased out.Rhen_Var
Phased out? You mean supported. The system isn't dead yet :?

Exactly.
