If you're not using the stock heatsink which should already have it on, then yes, use thermal paste.

^ get that one, the extra 10 bucks should give you some more overclocking headroom

I would put the raptors in raid 0 and just use your other drive for data storage

[QUOTE="sourfacedcyclop"]

I know the Pentium 4's tend to run hot, but how hot should it be running. Mine is at stock speed of 2.4 ghz and its idling at about 54c and is 74-77c at load. This time of year the room temps is at about 20c so that shouldn't be a problem. I'm thinking I should buy some new thermal paste, the computer is about seven years old...

7 years old? That beats my laptop which is 6 years old It can still max out halo :) Do you game on your P4 at all?

Heh, heck no. It can barley run an internet browser without lag :D

Oh, btw, it is running at these temps with the side off the computer with an extra, small fan on the floor blowing into it

I would go with a phenom II 955 BE personally. It and a mobo would be around the same price and is both a quad core, and a lot more future proof.

The OEM can only be installed on one computer. The version itself is tied to the Motherboard so if you upgrade the motherboard you would need a new version of Windows.
