Many hermits (and other Halo-haters) have stated that FPS GOTY 2007 will go to Crysis indefinitely, because it's more of a tactical shooter than a run-and-gun shooter, which Halo 3 will be. Once again, they have failed miserably. I have a nice little quote here from the recent Bungie Weekly Update:

In that same location, there was a Covenant grav-sniper platform, which I instinctively chucked all my grenades at to clear it of Jackal snipers (it was below my clifftop perch at the time) – so imagine my surprise when it exploded, and broke into sparking debris, which rained down on the ground below at speeds dictated by the still functioning grav lift beneath it. The temptation is to blow the things up immediately now, but you never know when you’re going to need to use those platforms yourself. I found this out to my cost when another, better hidden jackal sniper took me out, and I had already assploded my best tactical platform. Doh.Liquid_47

Hermits have given me similar examples from Crysis (although they were hypothetical to my knowledge). So now that Halo 3 isn't a full blooded run-and-gun, instead a FPS where you also have to think before you shoot, what do you Halo-haters have to say?

That quote dosn't imply tatics at all.  Like the change from invincible vechicals to destructable ones from Halo 1 to 2 its just a new layer they added.  Yes, the player screwed himself over, but the fact that he destroyed a set piece that was intended to be HIS platform only shows how limited his options are.  Of coarse, if this Halo is anything like the other two (and there's no reason to not think so) then with sufficient aim, the Jackels wouldn't be an issue, or simply a few dodges and he  blows them away.

Its now somewhat cliche, but I point to the tank video of Crysis.  In  just about any shooter we have now, running into a building and away from windows/doors (Halo included) shields you from heavy artillary or fire.  The fact that the building can be run down or torn apart from massed fire in Crysis makes that mainstay of FPS somewhat moot.

I think Halo 3 stands a good chance of being improved, I think Bungie is good enough to fix 'mistakes' made from Halo 2, but it simply won't hit the same level as Crysis unless it is udderly like the rest of the series.

I think that the 360 has the least amount of droughts simply because its been out, devs are familiar with it by now (at least somewhat) and its got an established player base.

So that leaves the PS3 and Wii.

Personally, I see the PS3 having more droughts for two reasons.  Since, the Wii will cost loads less to develope for your going to see many more games for the Wii (PS2 ish kind of effect).  That means a large amount of crap, but it also gives you a lot of suprise hits.  Not to mention it gives smaller companies a chance to get into the market, so they're going to throw everything they have into making a breakout game.

PS3 has price and dare I say, prestige going agaisnt it.  Price is pretty self explanitory I think (in the both slow user adoption and development).  But also, with the way the PS3 is being hailed ('gaming beyond') your generating a lot of hype.  So even if a game is decent, it'll be seen as crappy simply because its expected to be better because its a PS3 game.

Compare that to the reputation of the Wii being 'just fun' or the 360 as 'reliable'.

I'll admit, I'm curious to see how Halo 3 will turn out.  I'm thinking about getting Halo 2 on PC eventually, I got a lot of fun out of the first one, and the MP will definitly keep me going.  It'll probally be about as addictive as CS.  I'll need Team Fortress: Source (or whatever its being called) to break me out of it.

Awsome, reminds of the DBZ game on the Wii, which is sadly underrated here on GS. Still, I kinda lost the Naruto fandom in me after the neverending fillers. With the real series being animated again though, I think my fandom will be rekindled.glitchgeeman

Yeah, I liked BT2 as well.  Though this does seem to have quite a bit more of what can only be described as 'directed flailing'.

And just because I want to pretend to stay on topic here, this game dosn't look to bad.

I'm still enjoying BT2 on the Wii and even got some 'non-anime' people to play.  With favorable results.  This game kinda furthers my hopes for fighters on the Wii.

ya me too. uhhh, i think naruto games are ok besides the lack of moves. and horrible camera angles.

Smooth.  :)

Just sayin, this one has potential.

Good to hear actually, I kinda liked her (aside from the boob thing :)  )

I've resisted reading the manga too far just because I'm enjoying the show for the most part and don't want to spoil it for myself.

It's just nice to see the story moving again and the animation improving.

I actually liked ZoE2 quite a bit as well.  It played pretty well (a few boring spots).  But I'm a sucker for sci-fi AND giant robots...you throw zombies in there (somehow) and it'll probally hook me in.

[QUOTE="Blackbond"][QUOTE="Redmoonxl2"][QUOTE="Blackbond"]Where are you in the manga?Redmoonxl2

Somewhere around Chapter 118. I get Shonen Jump on subscription and all it really says is "Orochimaru's Invasion: Number 6", not a proper chapter number.

Oh I just read them online. They are about to start the 5th Arc of Naruto: 2. Well I'm not gonna spoil anything.

Meh, Naruto is not my kind of thing so I'm not too worried. I'm shady about what happens in Naruto 2 but I do know it's where they are a bit older and everybody is looking for you-know-who (Won't say for spoiler purposes).

As I stated, I prefer series like Death Note, Bleach, Berserk, Battle Angel, Fist of the North Star and others over Naruto. To be quite honest, I feel that One Piece is a much better series than Naruto by a long shot.

Have you seen the new Bleach episodes? (115 just came out yesterday).  Its actually getting good again, filler ended and they're doing a semi-return to the manga.

If you can run it, FEAR PC is more fun and better looking.  Also, you can pick up Extraction point, which manages to be a really solid expansion single player, if not quite adding much to the multiplayer (well, like anything really).
