@zoeyleft You are right. Torchlight was fantastic n it's upcoming sequel looks promising, not to mention DRM free and reasonably priced.. Also they didn't mind that their first game got pirated loads !!
@zzanzabar i hear you man.. and agree 100% percent.. esp regarding WoW and CoD... not to mention the always online requirement that Ubi started, and is now being aped by others..
@Landsharkk touche... same thing here my friend.. i like my games to have atmosphere and environment.. and for that i like games like TES, Bioshock, Stalker etc.. i can deal with the occasional bugs and glitches..
i recently got Witcher, Metro 2033 and Dear Esther in the Steam sales.. looking forward to settling down to a long time of fun..
@naydub it was the same thing with Torchlight, which was pirated in HUGE numbers.. however, the devs said that they didnt mind it as it would only enhance the game's reach and broaden their user base.. and they still refused to incorporate DRM in the game.. i dont think Torchlight 2 is going to have DRM either..
@saoe if us gamers stopped buying those ridiculously priced DLCs, then the big publishers would take notice.. the shameful bit is that the few of us who actually believe in CDPR and their work ethic are far outnumbered by people who do not even think twice about tossing their wallets at 'premium content' such as Elite CoD membership, its BF equivalent, crappy DLC map and expansion packs etc etc...
things wont change unless WE, the gamers, make the change.. a few individuals may not make a diff.. but collectively ALL of us can make a statement and slap the big publishers where it hurts most..
@Elem3nt it is not exactly 'pointless'.. newer slimmer models are also cheaper.. it increases the sales for the company.. and that is always good for them.. late adopters of a console generally do not go for new tech as soon as it launches.. hence the impending PS4 will not have much appeal for these people. as for the environment, any model that uses lesser electricity is always good for the environment isnt it ?
@hadlee73 @--Rob-- i prefer the PS ones.. more symmetrical and feels intuitive.. Xbox's is a bit lopsided with mismatched symmetry... for me personally, that is an issue and it feels very bulky as well.. although the grip of the controller is better than the PS.
@shinspikes Sony always do something stupid that ruins the whole experience.. i have a fair bit of sony hardware from the walkman to the PS3... and they do 95% things right.. but screw it up with proprietary stuff like memory cards or connector cables or transfer software.. this IMO is something that pisses off the end consumer a great deal.. the sooner they get rid of that habit, the better for the company. a lot of guys got PS3 cos you could install Linux on that.. what does sony do next - seal that area of the software, then gets hacked, then released a number of patches, pissed off the users and then got hacked big time !
Learn Sony, learn from the mistakes.. consumer is king !
