[QUOTE="swehunt"][QUOTE="evildead6789"] because in europe the amd x4 955 costs 140€, the i5-2300 167€, the i5-2400 173€, the i5-2500 185€. If the prices were like in the usa i would have bought the phenom and invested more in the videocard. Because the phenom is here overpriced and the i5 underpriced the decision was easy. What do you mean by "europe" I do live in europe and paid what would be about $110. ? so that means you paid 80€ for a phenom II x4 955. Well I'm from sweden but yes, thats the eqvalient amount I paid for my CPU.evildead6789

Komplett. dk sells this PC for 7.999,- (No obvious its not in $ but the TC's current)
2500K
Gigabyte Z68
8GB corsair vengance.
GTX560 SLI ! (x2)
WD 500GB
Sony optiarc DVD burner.
Corsair TX750.
All is built in the great Fractial Design R2 case.
This is much better than the other options you had and at a better price.
In your sig you have the 2500, why didn't you purchase the 955? ;) Games isn't the only thing about CPU's, for gaming a 955 does great but when it comes to raw performance AMD is currently years behind, that will change in a few weeks. because in europe the amd x4 955 costs 140€, the i5-2300 167€, the i5-2400 173€, the i5-2500 185€. [QUOTE="Custodian405"]looking at those prices from a north american perspective makes my eyes bleed but i guess those are the prices in Denmark for computer parts. I'd go for the Data Discount offer myself If you aren't going to be maxing out the newest most demanding games, the GTX560 is more than enough, plus the core I7 is also a definite plus. I personally wouldn't go for the solid state drive, they are quite expensive and getting rid of it would save you a bit of money with which you could ask for an upgrade to the 570 at the second place. anyways, the second one...Dennislol123
Thank you. My friend (who is more into hardware than I am) suggested that I buy this laptop instead: http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/consumer/computer-peripherals/notebook/rf-series/NP-RF712-S01HK/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail
The idea of gaming on a laptop is just strange to me. I wouldn't use the monitor or the keyboard; it would be only for the hardware, and I can't fathom how a laptop can be better for pure gaming purposes than a normal computer. :s
Don't listen to your friend, he dont know what the h*ck he is talking about! a gtx560 (non TI) will trash any mobile GPU, and let alone the 2600k will beat any laptop CPU by a mile. Desktop is what you would want to get if you want to game on it. Dont you got Komplett in denmark? /from another scandinavian.i don't understand the cpu hype, a phenom X4 955 is already more than enough to play todays games. At the same clocks and with the same GPU/memory they perform identical. Yes, cards differ, but thats because of the parts it was built with, if the card is the same it don't metter squat what the sticker says. if it's a saphire or an XFX tells nothing about the actual performance, the clocks given the GPU and the memory is the performance determin. Is this true that different brands offer different powers and quality?
I'm talking about Graphics cards specifically.
Is there a difference in performance between a Sapphire graphics card and a XFX?
(We're talking about performance and quality only)

Are there any particular reson why you want to swap out the HD5870's, two of those offer great performance, perhaps even a bit better than the gtx580. HD5870 CF and a multimonitor settup would be fun, i'd take that instead of a likewice gtx580 and a new monitor.Im looking to buy a new monitor for around £200-£300. I have been looking around and there is alot of choice to pick from, not to sure about contrast ratio etc so im in need of some help! I was looking to buy one from www.overclockers.co.uk. I am getting a GTX580 next week so will not have the 5870's

[QUOTE="ionusX"][QUOTE="ferret-gamer"]Can still tell Dirt 3 wasn't made for 8-cores, but at least it wasn't really stressing the CPU regardless. Dirt 3 pretty much maxes out my athlon 640@ 3.4ghzBrean24
yeah so double a phenom II x4 sounds about right for this thing thats pretty darn potent..
But how potent is it against Ivy Bridge? Who knows? It's really aimed against sandybridge.
