It's interesting how Bethesda is moving against trends on this and with their recent announcement that a bunch of newer games would be available on Steam. I'm really hopeful for some big news on Starfield this year. It's their chance to redeem themselves after the mess of Fallout 76.
Banner Saga 3 would've gotten a lot more attention as the best turn-based strategy game of the year if Into the Breach hadn't come out a few months earlier. I still think BS3 is better overall, and for me it was the best game of the year, but Into the Breach is pretty dang fun. Dead Cells and Return of the Obra Dinn have been on my wish list for a while, but I will wait for a nice sale to get them.
The writer of West Coast Avengers is Kelly Thompson, not Kelly Fitzpatrick. Same person who wrote Rogue & Gambit. Making her the only person besides Tom King with two books on the list. :)
All previous comments are good. The whole issue is that PC gamers aren't the target audience. They want fresh new money from that mobile market. But the big question remains, why the heck did they announce it in front of their most devoted PC fans? Clueless. Unless all this sound and fury was entirely their goal, to draw more attention to the announcement. They say there's no such thing as bad press.
Great review. I was intrigued at this game in the very early going, but somewhere along the line something in its development story turned me off and I stopped following it. Glad I did.
