I'm going to have to go with 1000 Words by Yuna and Lenne in FFX-2. I love the movie and the way the song builds the whole time. It's a song about not being able to say goodbye to the one you love. (being all manly about it) I get all teary eyed everytime i hear it, in game and MP3 form.

My personal experiences that bring joy are when you finally get to see the death animation of any "super boss" or just boss in general. The "David and Goliath Effect" if you will.

That article actually made me smile as I was reading it. I'm happy to see that a new "entry level" FF is being made for all of the younger generation getting DSs' from mommy and daddy for christmas and birthdays. They will get a chance to play the game as we played it (or at least as I did when FF1 was released...showing my age here :) ). I like the fact that they are targeting people who would shy away from the series due to the complexity and involvement that is now accustomed to the FF series. It is intimidating being thrown into a series like this one and not knowing anything about opposing elements, armor and weapon stats, leveling up a character to prepare for bosses, world map travel and all the things we've (or at least I have...again) grown up with along with the series. I for one am happy to see the "backtracking" if you will, in complexity while still driving the story forward. I also like how he pointed out that this is NOT "FF XII-2" but more storyline associated with the world of Ivalice.

I would have to put my money on Wakka and his beachball. Yeah sure he can hit flying enemies but so can Lulu and Tidus (once his accuracy goes up). His accent is annoying and his religious affiliations are down right frustrating. Sorry Wakka fans but he's just a comic relief to me. Wakka is much better off staying on Cartoon Netowrk as Bender on Futurama.

XII is a guarantee...preordered and waiting for the package in the mail but I'm an RPG freak so I'm also looking at the new Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, eagerly awaiting updates for (working title) Dragon Quest 9, the new Spyro game (It's ummm...for my girlfriend...honestly...yeah that's a good one), and Guild Wars Nightfall. Other than those I'm not very interested in the FPS or RTS scenes. Sports games are almost always out of the question. That's what roommates and suitemates are for!! :)

I would love to see a nicer version of the original animation. The huge black liquid orb spinning and being covered with great symbols. Bats flying all over the screen. The sounds were what did it for me because they were so gothic and had an awesome atmosphere of spookyness. IMO keep the animation and sounds but make it alot more detailed. If it's not broke don't fix it...but pimping it out never hurt anyone.

I do want to play both, having never played III and only playing the demo version of XII from DQVIII. I am more looking forward to XII solely due to storyline and graphical power. The originals are the foothold of one of the strongest franchises out, but the advances in conveying emotions, story driven gameplay and sheer senses of feeling directly involved in the story is what drives me to get the newer versions over just filling in the gaps in the number sequences.

From the looks of the new games coming out soon I don't see the series keeping the RPG style of things lasting too long. I feel that Crystal Chronicles and Dirge of Cerberus were SE's attempts to see how well the franchise would fare in another genre of gaming (ie action adventure and shooting games). IMO Crystal Chronicles and (from the looks of it) XII (which i still haven't played yet) did very well, marketing wise and living up to the anticipation, as a sort of Zeldaesk dungeon crawler style game. I know I wouldn't mind seeing a sort of series come out of that specific genre seeing as how closely related they are to RPGs.
I feel that to endure the series, it has to hit many markets/genres of gaming at descent standards of competition with what's out there but not to go overboard (Squall Leonheart in a stealth game?? I don't see it happening :) ) I also feel that they should start getting feedback from the fanclubs and unions (like ours) to see what the true fans of the series would like to see as an evolution, instead of running out of their own ideas they can see what our would be like. For a series to survive I can only see evolution with the market as happening. More graphics, intense stories, and long hours of involvement by them and us as gamers.

The only way to get Beatrix permanently (I found) is by using a Gameshark.

Since the game is about Zidane and Dagger it feels like the developers spent more time on them. I always liked them best because they feel more real when they talk and act towards eachother. Plus double knives and summons, how can ya beat that?
