In all FPS games, you control basically the head of the character so you get a view from his eyes.
But take a look at this.

It's the infamous Atlanta Mall Cop. It took me a while to realize that he had the camera mounted on his chest.
Pretty gnarly stuff. But the perspective from the camera makes it better. You see his arms moving around, you see him tumbling with other people. Also...I'm kind of tired of looking video game characters in the eye. This perspective sort of gives you like a...Krane's eye view of the world. I guess it like lets you see the visceralness of combat while keeping you seperate from the main character. It's kind of uncanny.
Like, the videos are practically a GTA game, and really ought to be studied by all game designers. Shooting galleries are so dumb.
