Any of Creative's current lineup. What part of the onboard sound is giving you trouble?

Assuming the Graphics Media Accelerator is made by Intel, probably the Radeon. A Sager or Dell XPS is a good choice, also Asus make some nice gaming laptops.

Hopefully, get them to give the PC a once over while your there to check for anything inside the case which could be contributing to the issue.

Next year, as in September next year? (I'm from the UK which is when we start college) If so, I would definitely wait. The battery would already be halfway through it's useful life at that point.

Captain_Tripps: the majority of people don't have amps or receivers and just use their TV speakers through SCART, phono or HDMI etc.

Something like this might be in order if he wants to use the 2.1 set he has: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Phono-Female-3-5mm-Audio-Cable/dp/B000Q8KSS0

With the proper cable you should be able to run the xbox through the 2.1 set with no problems. Do they have an aux input or anything like that on the back or is it just the one input from the computer? An A/V receiver is a piece of equipment that takes numerous inputs from audio or video sources and outputs them to a single device.

I suppose it could be overheating. Fallout is a fairly new game. Do you have the latest graphics drivers and DirectX version? It's also possible it is an issue with the game itself as you say the problem is limited to this one title.

I had never heard of hybrid power before so I was inrigued and did a search. "Hybrid Power mode is also fairly self explanatory. With a monitor connected to the mGPU, the discreet graphics card can be completely shut down to reduce power consumption when no in use. A side effect of the reduced power consumption will also be reduced heat and potentially c***less noise output from the system. The discreet card is shutdown (or enabled) using the SMBUS connection inherent to the PCI Express graphics slots. We should also note, that Hybrid SLI is supported by both PCI Express Gen 1 and Gen2."

So it looks as though hybrid power shuts down the graphics card in favour of using the onboard chip to save power. However this is an nVidia tech and the TA790GX (http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en-us/t-series/introduction.php?S_ID=374) looks like an AMD based board. As far as I know the only hybrid tech that AMD uses is Hybrid Graphics which is not the same ting and will use a compatible Graphics card and the onboard chip together to increase framerates.

Believe it or not, depending on how your airflow currently is, opening the case may have a detrimental effect on heat as the flow of air is interrupted.
