Your only option in Ozy is to play vs Aussies or Kiwis, thats it. Sucks but thats how it goes.

can totally see this coming back to bite microsoft in the ass a few years down the road if the PS3 puts out games at true 720p and 1080p resolutions without using frame buffers as an excuse to not using those 2 afformentioned resolutions. Hell, there better be more graphically impressive games coming out on the 360 that use true HD resolutions and not this technicality bullcrap that bungie is trying to use, otherwise the PS3 will pull ahead, and then they could truthfully say they have the only -real- HD system in this generation.bigbosssolodin
All games have multiple buffers, they render one while the other displays. The difference on the PS3 I guess is it lacks a hardware scaler which means they cant cheat, 1080 for them is 1080.

If its running in like 1080 there is a massive diff, 720 not so much but its worth it, however if you're light on the cash wait a year and get TVs when LCD/Plasma tech is cheaper.

It's not below 720p - in fact it's much higher - they just programmed it with 2 frame buffers instead of one.DataDream
All games use multiple buffers, many use 3.

Dude your 360 scales it perfectly. Go cry b/c you couldn't find a difference between their res and 720p if you tried.superstud101
If it scaled it perfectly then how come people could see the difference, the ones who raised all this.

old news.

anyway, it's still HD, just upconverting to higher formats.

TENTHROW2
But they didnt say that on the box, they didnt say to the media checkout our almost HD game, they claimed it was HD, its not, thats a big deal. Besides what trend does this set in the future. "Cant do it? No probs just lower the res, they wont notice".

(mods this is from bungie themselves) After many noticed possible issues Bungie commented, which is what I expected, what I didnt expect was them to admit Halo 3 is indeed running below HD. Bungie called it "Almost-720p" You can read about it here from their website: http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=12821 For those wondering about some of the tech terms. The bandwidth they refer to is how much data they can move in and out the graphics pipeline (and system itself) at a time. Normally when you cant fit enough things in you simply reduce detail. Also the 2 buffers they refer to is common practise in all games, some even use 3 or more.
