Why would you want a dying format in the 360? I sure don't.

The sooner hd-dvd dies the better, one format is more than enough,i hate these stupid format wars!

They want it for the games, but thats not viable.

There was no way they could have released an HDDVD drive/wifi based unit, first off they'd lose what little legroom theyve got with 360 owners already, secondly it would raise the price far above the PS3. PS3 already has price/feature advantage and MS isnt going to make that worse. 3rd, the whole BD thing, and now targets dropped out of HDDVD as well so its not looling good for even finding drives anymore.

All this means to me is that I have to wait for a reasonably priced BD player to arrive with profile 1.1 (preferably 2.0). It just sucks because I just finished saving for my projection system and thus won't have as much disposable income for a while.nosferatu
A 1.1 (and because they're all upgradable) 2.0 system will cost about $350 from April onwards, or you'll be able to get a PC/LT drive for even less which is a better solution for many.

I mean my friend has a PS3 and he has a linksys router and he just jacks up a ps3 wire on the router and pays nothing. But my other friend has a XBOX 360 and says that you can have a silver account for free or you could BUY a Xbox live Gold account for 49.99 plus taxe. That's something that realy blows up my mind.

You'll notice will gp stright to the "But its cheap" line when its not how much it costs, but its that it costs at all. Thats the issue. On a PS3, you load up the game, join servers, and play just like ont he 360. You just dont have to pay to do that. Pretty simple. As for why they charge for LIVE, who knows, Im sure some memo will be leaked from MS one day explaining why.

Blu-Ray might be winning but so is the 360.ronnet
Well, a years head start hardly counts as winning.

acitybeing that MS is limited to about 8 gigs with dvd9. MS works on compression tools 24/7, any developer has access to this and will not havea problem with gamesfor at least another 4-5years, in which MS will probably release a new system anyway. If there is anything that could be used for both the Xbox and PS3, it would be memory - 512 does not cut it. DVD9 is nota problem so let's end that here. jofu74
...pardon?

The whole BD, HDDVD thing is very on topic. It relates to both consoles and of course PCs.
