no, its not the same type of copy protection that the makers of blu ray are proposing. blu ray not only wants you to buy only their product, THEY ALSO WANT TO CONTROL HOW YOU USE IT. In my case thats limiting me from doing perfectly legal things.rorywillisBoth HDDVD and BD use the same base protection (which has been cracked), BD adds an optional extra layer (which has also been cracked). As for the HDMI thing, forcing customers to use quality HD cables to get the picture isnt a bad thing, its a good thing, and HDCP has also been cracked. None of its standing in the way.

Its important to note that Paramount is only with HDDVD temp, so its only Universal whos standing against BD.
