[QUOTE="codezer0"] I don't want to pay $3000 before getting a freaking player that works! And that's exactly what will happen with BluRay because Sony can't make a reliable product to save their lives.

...then dont buy a Sony player? There is tons to choose from including PC/Laptop based ones.
And WB is only doing it because of the delicious DRM [ /sarcasm ] that BluRay has innately compared to the much more reasonable HD-DVD DRM.codezer0
Both BD and HDDVD use the same base DRM, but BD does have an additional layer if a company wants to use it. Its all been broken so its about as pointless as CSS, but hey, companies got a right to protect their stuff just like everyone else.
And what about all those movies that got dick for extras like 300 on BluRay compared to 300 (HD-DVD) ? This just gives WB an excuse to re-release the same movie all over again to include the extras that BluRay can't handle.codezer0
You mean 'couldnt' handle. The extras thing was fixed with 1.1, and will be augmented with 2.0 even further.
It's also incredibly ridiculous that BluRay marketing hypes up the extra storage space that BD discs have when there ain't a damned movie on the market actually making use of it, where there are HD-DVD's which pack in a metric **** load of stuff that you wouldn't think would fit, but does.codezer0
DVD didnt look all that hot to start with either. Takes a while for everyone to get upto speed and for encoders to mature. HDDVD is having issues with storage, many HDDVD titles lack an HD audio track because of space limitations.
The HD-DVD group needs to step things up if they want to win this already.codezer0
HDDVD lost the day BD came out.

Windows is a big issue in the memory stakes. Windows is easily one of the most bloated operating systems in existence and by far not an example of operating systems in general.

There are 250 companies, that are lead by board of directors with 18 seats... Sony is only one of 18 powerful corporations leading the "Blu-ray Disc Association"... Waner Bros is only 1 company... there are still 195 member companies of the "DVD Forum" which owns HDDVD...Squeets
Dont know why you're fighting dude, its over. Game over.

400 companies but Sony is the leader. And they can make all the decisiones they want.PandaBear86
Sony isnt even close to the leader, there are bigger companies involved. Only reason anyone even thinks of Sony with BD is because they put it in the PS3.

Okay so lets get this dorted. 1. Just becuasr the connection says a speed that doesnt mean thats what you get. 2. If you're getting highspeed at one time of day and not in the others you need to check your bandiwdth useage and call your ISP to ask about the exchanges quality. 3. DMZ is all you need. 4. DMZ is all you need. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool. 5. If others are using the network, especially with downloading, your link WILL be useless. Downloading content via p2p will decimate every last byte the link has. Dont let them use the computers while you're online. Simple as that. Only other option is to get another line.

>DVD was not owned by a single company, it was a more open standard. Blu-ray on the other hand is owned by a greedy company. Its not exactly as open as DVD was.PandaBear86
The BluRay group, the people who made it consist of over 400 companies.

The format war made Blu-ray and HD-DVD cheaper. Now that Blu-ray may monopolise the industry in the years to come, say goodbye to cheap prices. Especially a format from a greedy company like Sony.PandaBear86
Yeah I mean think of how expensive DVD players have become...... yeah.

Ass Creed and GTA4 were supposed to be ps3 exclusives until Microsoft swooped in.tommcruise
No, GTA4 was never PS3 only. Fact is there isnt enough units on both sides to warrant good sales so they had to go for broke, but Rockstar also made a deal with Sony to give them their next big project which is designed 100% around the idea of utilizing the PS3s features, so it should beinteresting.
