2nd Blog of the day!!! Miami Vice impressions (spoilers)
by tgawn on Comments
Today i saw Miami Vice and i thought that it would be awesome, boy was i wrong. This movie was such a disspointment, i think its Michael Mann 3rd film and its the second out of the 3 that i have seen that i didn't really like.
Heat was his best, Al Pachino and Robert DeNiro starred in it and it is a good movie that i should see it again. Now Collateral which i watched last year i didn't like at all the story wasn't that great plus i hated the type of filming (handcam stlye).
I was hoping that Miami Vice would be done in contempary filming but no typical Michael Mann had to do it handy cam style. I think its ok for like a scene or two but when its in most of the movie it just gets annoying and stupid. Using the handycam filming stuffed up a bit of the gun fight at the end, it did spoil alot of the movie too.
Moving away from the bad camera work i didn't find the film that enjoy able the guns, cars & vehicles were awesome and there was a good variety. Colin Farrell & Jamie Foxx were brilliant in this movie and it would be one of their best yet (acting of course). If Colin Farrell was in Collaterall then it might have been a good movie becuase Tom Cruise is a crap actor.
If you are going to see this then go you might like it but don't expect alot from it.
My birthday + Xbox 360 fund update 12/8/06
by tgawn on Comments
Today is a good day because as you would have read from the heading today is my 15th birthday. I haven't got alot of stuff yet because its relatives forget so i should get some stuff in the mail shortly.
I got $100 from my parents bringing my slowing building Xbox 360 fund up too $385, it should be about $400 but i spent some money at Gamecave last week. Speaking of Gamecave i went there last night with my brother and we played some CS: Source.
I hope to have the 360 by possibly late September or sometime October-November.
These are the games i hope to get with or shortly after getting the 360:
Tom Clany's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter - Because this game is said to be the best and one of the most popular 360 games currently, plus my friend has it so once i get Xbox live (i'll get it a few months after i will have to work out how i will make a connection) i can play him and other people.
Moto GP 06 - I want this game because i like the Moto GP and i played the Moto GP 2 demo on the origanal Xbox. I played 06 at a friends and it was really fun so i will get this game.
The Elder Scrolls IV - Before i played this game i thought RPG's sucked and i i couldn't stand them, A friend of mine burnt me a copy of the PC version, it wasn't a very good copy plus i didn't no if my PC could run it anyway, and it didn't work. So after playing a bit of the game on the 360 and the game getting so much hype i have decided that i will buy this one too.
Hitman: Blood Money - I haven't played any previous Hitman games but after reading the review and watching the video review and stuff and hearing from other Gamespot users that its good, i have decided to get it myself.
Gamecave impressions (LAN gaming)
by tgawn on Comments
Well today I went to Gamecave (like I said I was in my previous blog) and it turns out it just in a large room of this computer store. I firstly didn't know what to expect but my brother told me a bit about it so I could guess what it be like plus I’ve seen pic of LAN gaming places.
I signed up for the membership and started playing Counter Strike: Source. Dam it is so much better than condition zero, and I don't think it was the graphics card talking (the computers all run on AMD 64 processors & PCI Express graphics).
These are some other games they have available to play:
- Serious Sam 2
- Age of Empires 3
- Call of Duty
Unfortunately CoD2 didn't work which sucked I tried to play online with BF2 i got to choose servers and stuff but once I joined the game before I could join a class or even join a squad it kicked me from the server and said that punkbuster had removed me from the server saying that I had O/S insufficient permissions or something like that.
So once some more people turned up I played Counter Strike: Source with them and these kids are like 2 years younger than me.....I was owning them!!! I joined the terrorist team for a bit using just a plain AK-47 and these other kids sucked so much. I flanked about 3 of them and killed them with about 3 shots each (no joke!) and this was my first time playing a Counter Strike game in about 2 years.
I am going to go there again this Friday with some mates so I should have some more playing time on CS: Source!!!
Off to Gamecave today + Emblems
by tgawn on Comments
Firstly i got my Tagger Maker emblem back again today after it was gone again yesterday, its really weird its the second time now.
Anyways yesterday my brother got told about a place called: Gamecave (LAN/Internet gaming). I didn't go becuase i wasn't sure about it and he was going with a friend so i would be quite alot older than them.
Anyway my brother told me about it and it turns out its in a computer hardware/software shop. At Gamecave they have games like:
- Counter Strike 1.6
- Counter Strike: Source
- Warcraft 1, 2 & 3
- Halo: CE
- Call of Duty 2
- Battlefield 2
And more probably. Also they have a member service and you get like a couple of hours free so im going to try out their games and i'll make a blog post about it later today.
360 playing against the PC

Microsoft's Arcade is proving a hit with fans of old and new games.
MICROSOFT'S Xbox Live Arcade online service has been a remarkable success, and soon PC and mobile-phone users will be able to share the fun.The Xbox 360 service has classic arcade games and new "casual gaming" titles from big publishers and independent studios. Millions of downloads have been recorded since the 360's debut less than a year ago.
Recent games appearing on Live Arcade include retro classics such as Galaga, Pac-Man and Frogger plus entertaining new diversions such as Cloning Clyde. Games are available for free trial and take only a few minutes to download over a broadband connection.
David Hufford, director of Xbox product management, says Microsoft's presence in the desktop, hand-held and console markets has enabled them to bring the platforms together for the forthcoming Live Anywhere service.
Live Anywhere will enable PC and Xbox 360 players to battle each other, and Arcade games can be played wherever you go.
"You buy the game once and you can play it on any device," Mr Hufford says. "So I can buy something like Geometry Wars on Xbox 360 and I will have access to that same game on my PC and even on my mobile."
Mr Hufford says Arcade is a great platform for new developers to break into the industry.
"Retailers can't stock all these games. This really gets a developer's ideas out of their minds and into the hands of people who play games without worrying whether you're going to get shelf space at retail."
Mr Hufford says 300 developers around the world have either produced Live Arcade games or submitted ideas.
"We're overwhelmed by the submissions, but we're ramping up quickly to look carefully at all the submissions and see which games make sense," he says. "What you're seeing here is a hotbed of game creativity."
Microsoft has sold 5 million Xbox 360 consoles.
Q & A #3

My fourth and possibly my last one too. I answer questions about the Wii and 360 games i also make a breif note about 24 season 5.
24 Season 5 - impressions (spoilers)
by tgawn on Comments
last night i watch the final two episodes of 24 season 5. Let me tell you it was awesome. Logan going to jail, nerve gas released at CTU, Jack taking out a helicopter with a 9mm pistol at a 30 metre range.
Although i must say it wasn't all i was hoping it to be i was annoyed that they killed off both Michelle Dessler and Tony Almeida. But it was cool to see Kim Bauer come back for a couple of episodes (dam Elisha Cuthbert is hot!!).
Also im eager to here news about the next 24 in Australia, in a couple of months after Keifer Sutherland is done with his new movie Sentinel. The reason there will be a 6th is because Jack got kidnapped by the Chinese for killing there consul, so at the end he was beaten up and was on a container ship bound for Shanghai!!
But through out the season im glad that one handed Chase Edmunds didn't return and that Curtis Manning didn't die either.
Plus to wrap things up it was a shame that President David Palmer got a bullet in the kneck. What happened to Wanye after Bill Buchanan took him into exil???
