I believe the correct name of the DLC is "Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty," not "Her Captain's Booty." What was Eddie Makuch thinking of when he wrote this, hmm?
I had no idea this game was coming, but it I was really excited the first time I saw it listed. I played the Commodore 64 version of this game, and it is probably still among my top five favorite games of all time. I continued to be disappointed (though not surprised because it is Jordan Mechner) that it never appeared on GOG or in app form somewhere.
So on the one hand, I'm mildly disappointed that the gameplay isn't more fulfilling. I would love to see the Karateka motif and style taken to AAA levels with a multimillion dollar budget. On the other hand, what made Mechner's games special was their attention to the story and art at a time when most games had little of either. So it's no surprise here that Mechner has given us a short romp in which art trumps gameplay.
@MigGui @spectreSE7EN Your use case sounds a lot like mine. Thanks to dealing with services like Steam, Spotify, and comiXology, I'm all for digital content when I can get it. If I can pull up the content I want anytime / anywhere without bothering with discs and such, it's just far more convenient to manage my library without risk of damaging or losing something down the line.
When I read the title and first paragraph, I thought it would allow you to play PS4 games on literally ANY PlayStation system including the PS3 and PSVita. I almost spit out my drink. Having the ability to stream PS4 games to other consoles would be awesome indeed.
But this is good news too. I hope that Microsoft does something similar for the XBOX One (like they planned to do before they got attacked for their DRM policies). And I also hope Sony eventually does get around to allowing us to stream games across PlayStation platforms.
@evil_snuggles I think it won't make a whit of difference in actual games. If you use your console to run benchmarks, however, it'll be great news for you.
I was actually looking forward to some of the benefits of the XBOX One's digital future. The digital library that followed the user anywhere sounded pretty sweet. And since I don't sell my games that wasn't an issue for me.
