Thursday Morning Hero

If you didn't know, the title of this blog is a kinda-sorta-parody of the Deftones album "Saturday Night Wrist," on which is a song entitled "Hole in the Earth" that is included in the latest Guitar Hero III DLC. This, along with Avenged Sevenfold's "Almost Easy" and Thrice's "The Arsonist" comes at a YMMV value of 500 MS pts. Impressions of Expert difficulty follow:

Hole in the Earth is a pretty nice song, one of the two or three I actually like from this album. Deftones, what have happened to thee o'er the days? The note chart is something you'd find in tier 3 or 4 - pretty easy stuff. I five starred it on my first attempt and give it a "meh, it's cool."

The Arsonist is okay, I guess. For a song I never heard before, it kept my interest. The note chart isn't too complex and can probably be memorized with little effort. Five starred on the first attempt, rated "eh, i'd go back to it."

Almost Easy is one of my favorites from Avenged Sevenfold's new self-titled album. I think this would be a good song for Rock Band if there was a double pedal. It's just not the same alternating the double-bass line, as seen in the game already. The note chart here resembles something you'd see in their Guitar Hero 2 track, mainly in reference to the grooving rhythms. There isn't much soloing in this song as compared to Beast and the Harlot, but I feel that this track really puts the value into the pack. I'd love to try this in Co-Op. I wish they chose Critical Acclaim, but I can see why they might not have been able to (language, lyrical content).

After DLCFest, I decided to give the old devil a try again. See, I hadn't finished this game on Expert yet, having only Lou to defeat for months on end. I was given a very helpful hint from MrCHUP0N and it paid off! I absolutely murdered the old boy with a whammy attack immediately after my first solo. I also tired myself out during the end credits, playing TTFAF.

I feel good! I finished another game!

PS - Be sure to check out MrCHUP0N's videos of me singing Number of the Beast and playing drums on Sex Type Thing at our most recent Rock Band party!

Two games down...

Whew, just finished Devil May Cry... very rewarding, given the effort required to complete it. I gives it a 9.

Now playing: God of War - easier, more fun!

I finished Phoenix Wright Justice for All about 2 weekends ago and am already into the 2nd case of Trials and Tribulations.

I'm starting to feel like I can clear up this backlog in no time... Yay me!

Aw, kiljoy!

This goes to show you all that I can't read, or simply don't pay attention to detail when excited. The God of War red PSP comes out in June, not along with the release of the game itself. So my wallet smiles at me and my bubble has bursted.

Happy pictures will come in 3 months.

Gruul the Dragonkiller downed 2/16 (WoW)

I finally have a break from all of my work... now I can post these two pics of Gruul the Dragonkiller from over the weekend. Enjoy!

I'll try to come up with some action shots next weekend, but i was too busy actually learning how to beat him this time.

E4 Showtime!

After a dazzling hour and 45 minutes of continuous play, I managed to absolutely PWN Every Extend Extra Extreme's first stage and topped the friend's leaderboards! Granted, there are only 3 people on that leaderboard, but I did beat Sir Ben Wilkins III's 30 trillion point score with a trance-tastic 50 trillion point score! I only stopped because I had to go out... so I wonder if I could actually beat the 5 quadrillion point score that is #1 in the world? For reference, my 50 tril is listed as 1292 in the world rankings. I wanna see some competition, Benny! Bring it! (lol)

My new strategy for trying to finish games...

I'm going to try to play one game per console until it's beateded. This will reflect in my list of games played. I hope that I can get through my backlog this way!

I'm also playing Castlevania for N64. I believe that I have made a note of this game on the Trigames.NET podcast in that I absolutely hated it. I checked the reviews on Gamespot and they praised what I thought was a piece of crap. This caused me to think on why the game was so bad in my opinion and as a result, I decided to give it a complete playthrough and make it my first official Gamespot player review. At this time, I'm on stage 5 and while there are great moments, it's still not that good of a game. I'm still holding out.

I finally get to play Ninja Gaiden Black

...without much personal hassle to myself. It's going to be available as an Xbox Original next week and I'm actually pleased with that. I completely missed out on it the first time around as I did not own an Xbox and was very lazy about trying to find it new. I didn't want it used just because I'm weird like that. So woot for me - I get to be frustrated at one of the toughest games ever too!

...ive that girl's chest!? ELL OH ELL(erskates)

...ived that girl's chest! (If this line just confused you, click that to see part of our fantastic tale, told by MrCHUP0N)

It was pretty funny when he did it, and none of us really thought about it afterward. He continued his set which IMO was hilarious - I was wiping my eyes from laughing so hard - and finished up with his c1assic DMX/Jay-Z/Snoop Dogg/LL Cool J impression over music. He closed his set saying that we come to comedy clubs to laugh and we should put all that baggage aside and have a good time, which I completely agree with.

Sad thing is, the girls didn't agree one bit. MrCHUP0N bought an autographed double-CD (one side is stand-up, the other is prank calls) and we took our shoddy cell-phone picture. We learned that his chesty high-five is considered assault and the cops were called. We left and sure enough, 5-0 was waiting outside the club for him while the girls were explaining the situation to them. Aries might spend the night (hopefully not the weekend) in booking, unless there's bail - he did claim to be a "thousandaire". Shoot, he might just get a slap on the wrist, but that's unlikely considering the complainant.

It was a great night with a meh ending (for him, at least). The humor is definitely on point, and as long as you put your baggage at the door, he's a must-see for everyone with a funny bone.

Games that will age like wine in my cask-i-mean-shelf

I just bought Xenosaga II. Got it for $9.99 at Target on a whim, mainly because every time I see it I feel like it will be the last time I see a new copy of it in retail. There are usually one or two copies in a store - IF they have stock - and sometimes they're displaced in another game's area. Problem here is that I'm never going to get to it... well I think I will but it will be years away. I have Xenosaga but I haven't opened it. I bought it used, so there's no shrink wrap, but I haven't put it in my PS2 yet. Knowing that these games are incredibly long RPGs with awesomely long cutscenes, I don't know exactly when I will have the time to play them! With that in mind, I decided to publish my backlog for the world to see. It's a work in progress, since I'm moving to an apartment on the other side of my building as we speak.
