If you didn't know, the title of this blog is a kinda-sorta-parody of the Deftones album "Saturday Night Wrist," on which is a song entitled "Hole in the Earth" that is included in the latest Guitar Hero III DLC. This, along with Avenged Sevenfold's "Almost Easy" and Thrice's "The Arsonist" comes at a YMMV value of 500 MS pts. Impressions of Expert difficulty follow:
Hole in the Earth is a pretty nice song, one of the two or three I actually like from this album. Deftones, what have happened to thee o'er the days? The note chart is something you'd find in tier 3 or 4 - pretty easy stuff. I five starred it on my first attempt and give it a "meh, it's cool."
The Arsonist is okay, I guess. For a song I never heard before, it kept my interest. The note chart isn't too complex and can probably be memorized with little effort. Five starred on the first attempt, rated "eh, i'd go back to it."
Almost Easy is one of my favorites from Avenged Sevenfold's new self-titled album. I think this would be a good song for Rock Band if there was a double pedal. It's just not the same alternating the double-bass line, as seen in the game already. The note chart here resembles something you'd see in their Guitar Hero 2 track, mainly in reference to the grooving rhythms. There isn't much soloing in this song as compared to Beast and the Harlot, but I feel that this track really puts the value into the pack. I'd love to try this in Co-Op. I wish they chose Critical Acclaim, but I can see why they might not have been able to (language, lyrical content).
After DLCFest, I decided to give the old devil a try again. See, I hadn't finished this game on Expert yet, having only Lou to defeat for months on end. I was given a very helpful hint from MrCHUP0N and it paid off! I absolutely murdered the old boy with a whammy attack immediately after my first solo. I also tired myself out during the end credits, playing TTFAF.
I feel good! I finished another game!
PS - Be sure to check out MrCHUP0N's videos of me singing Number of the Beast and playing drums on Sex Type Thing at our most recent Rock Band party!
