Looks like the band has broken up. For those who may not know, I was in a band called Xavier for several years, making some great latin rock music. There have been some personal differences, and as a result the band has dissolved. I will still be making music with Xavier, the singer, but we won't be doing our old "hits" found on our homepage and myspace. I'm trying to convince him to stick with the newer songs we wrote (many of which can only be heard live at this time) and I think we just might. Hopefully we'll bounce back soon. What we will be named, though, is another story.

Some good news to end with: I'm going to see Megadeth in April! Woot!

I've been very busy working (and getting used to working every day after the holidays). First off, I'd like to extend a "Happy New Year" wish to all who read my blog and I hope that 2008 will yield much fruit for your sown seeds. Last weekend I went to MrCHUP0N's place for a crazy and fun Rock Band session with his friends. I was recorded "singing" (and failing) Sabotage on Expert and I'd like to share the hilarity (and high pitched confusion) with you guys. When I find some time I will encode and upload it. Oh, and a word to the wise: if you're gonna rap on Expert, know the words!

I'll also be doing (whenever I can manage to organize it) a real guitar/fake guitar video with MrCHUP0N. Our first title will be Enter Sandman (edit: nix that - we're doing Blackened, he knows that solo better right now); he'll be playing on Rock Band guitar and I'll be playing on my Les Paul, seen in my One solo video. I hope it will provide some perspective into how similar and/or different it is to play both of these instruments.

I'm still learning it but I really love playing the game. I haven't lost yet, but I know that when I play against skilled people I'll be getting my behind handed to me.

I don't think I would have ever tried it if it wasn't free. Thanks Microsoft!

Old: That banner you see up there. This was done about 2 weeks ago, maybe. I was playing Rock Band with Slunks, jimb0 and Ashuku online and completed the epic Who song with the 7 figure score. I hope to have a few more like this - you can find the entire screenshot here.

New: Nothing really... sorry for lying. I've been a little out of touch since the Kane and Lynch incident and haven't really had anything to say. Hopefully the next post will be a bit more exciting.

* Is going to be tough to sing and play guitar simultaneously. I tried singing on Medium and grunging on Expert, playing Nirvana's In Bloom. It was the only song that I knew 99% of the words to. I failed out of the vocals because I decided to do this just after waking up, but I saved myself with the guitar.

* Is great fun online. Played with Slunks and jimb0 before leaving for work today and enjoyed myself greatly playing guitar and bass.

* Might have a lot of manufacturing defects. My guitar's tilt function is backward, meaning I have to bend DOWN to activate Overdrive. It's also incredibly sensitive, but it might be as a result of the defect. Simply strumming can activate Overdrive if the guitar sways too much. I'm returning it to EA, who has a WONDERFUL return policy - they send you a new guitar, you send yours back. If they don't get it back... you get charged $20. Of course, you'll need a credit card to get a new guitar this way. They ship 2-day air, so I hope to get mine the day after Thanksgiving.

Also...

Downloaded the Metallica pack! I only played Blackened (my fav song of course) and that is clearly deserving of the title Impossible Song (actual difficulty label as listed in Rock Band). I can get through most of the song but trying to switch from the bottom portion of the neck to the top for the solos is something I must learn!
