[QUOTE="dakan45"]Yes you can take down trees and chop them in pieces, also blow up those huts, however you can destroy fences or bigger buildings. There are games with more destrucion, the new red faction game for example.mo0ksi
While RFG has more most of the debris sinks into the ground. Some of the buildings also seem to break the laws of physics as well when I'm breaking it apart.

The weird thing is the destruction in multiplayer is so much better, the buildings don't just fall through the ground, you can get building to break apart and roll down hills falling apart as they do... dunno why they made it so much worse in single player because you think it'd be the other way around.

alien shooter: vengance

Nox

you might like the single player of dawn of war 2 however it is a little more strategic than a typical hack & slash (and a little more demanding too system wise)

aura_enchanted

Hmm just tried alien shooter and zombie shooter demo on steam, think I might get it... they're pretty fun.

hahah I remember seeing previews of the old Halo on a gaming show on tv when I was a kid, but it's no secret that it was originally for Mac. Marathon was a mac fps game made by bungie that shares similarities to Halo, it even featured in Red vs Blue when Church gets sent back in time.

Also interesting is that Halo was originally going to be a third person shooter.

Crysis was easily better than that boring brown game with Far Cry stamped on it.

Although I found it funny that leading up to Crysis' release the developers were saying oh yes we've learned a great deal from Far Cry, we learnt most people didn't like the mutants saying it changed what they loved about the game. So what do they do? The exact same thing of course.

We all fell in love with the great gameplay footage of Crysis, hiding in the follage and attaching a sniper scope and silencer to the gun then taking people out, then quickly running in grabbing guys going cloak etc etc and it seemed as if they had just improved on the good parts of Far Cry. Then I was running up and down a carrier spamming rockets into the bosses weak point thinking to myself... no... they really didn't learn at all.

How could you ruin the gameplay more than freezing the entire environment into something you can't use to your advantage... then making your enemies be able to fly around and detect you instantly. Silly move.

Why are Australian prices higher? Are there import taxes or something?dnuggs40

Because when our exchange rate was 2:1 it made sense, you guys pay $50 - $60 RRP and we payed somewhere around $100. Then the Australian dollar caught up with the US dollar but the prices never readjusted. It's a shame, but anyone can buy from D2D service or import for cheaper.

EDIT: Oh I should add that ever since JB Hi-Fi took on the monopolly that was EB Games, prices have been getting more and more competitive.

man my launch system is still going strong, don't worry so much. The fail rate is way down on 360's and up on PS3's (YLOD).

[QUOTE="the_mitch28"]

They're not forcing it on you, it's an optional peripheral. If Microsoft can make this much money and have this much market share from a predominantly hardcore fanbase then do you honestly think they would try to get rid of that? Just try and think logically for a second and then you'll settle down.

TJORLY

Its optional at the moment. If it becomes a big hit with the casual crowd, do you think MS is not going to exploit that?

Perhaps, but even if they did they would still cater to their strong hardcore base because like I said having both is much much better than having one or the other.

Microsoft is basically climbing their way up the console chain, they made it very clear that this gen they were aiming for Sony and the Playstation when most said there wasn't room for a 3rd console. They pulled that off and now they've got their eyes set on Nintendo and their casual market. I think it's safe to assume that you're not going to lose your good titles that make Microsoft and its affiliates obscene amounts of money.
