Sounds like you just need to find a better server.

Nah, the kiddies don't bother me much. I'm a pretty casual CS player these days anyway. And I've definitely met plenty of cool folks out there too, but I've also definitely run into heaps of obnoxious idiots over all my years of CS. I haven't played in a while though. Maybe a lot of these people have finally migrated over to other games. Or finished puberty.

Ah fair enough then.

I should mention all my experience in CSS has been on Australian servers so I don't know what it's like in other countries. Plus all the kiddies seem to be kept in check by the jailbreak servers, they're pretty much like those fluorescent bug zapper things for CS.

The general consensus is that the Counter-Strike community is full of whiners, griefers, and ragers. Believe me, they'll find a reason to gripe and insult each other over anything. 1.6 players think that Source players all have inferior skills. Source players think that 1.6 players are all hackers. Anytime somebody dies in Counter-Strike, it's because of lag, or the game glitched, or the other person is cheating or using "noob tactics". Seriously, the community is full of immature brats who seem to like having a bad time better than having a good one.

JN_Fenrir

I don't see why the CS community gets such a bad wrap, certainly the hardcore players can be hard bunch to please but same goes with every game in existence.

Most of the players I run into in CS seem to be older and a lot more relaxed than your average CoD player who rages when they get killed by a tube or whatever.

Sounds like you just need to find a better server.

Gladly, I love the ArmA series and BI. The prospect of being able to support their studio by buying more content for an awesome game is great.

I prepurchased it yesterday because I knew it was only a matter of time before 2k Australia dialed the main office. The add popped up on my screen today saying prepurchase for $80... not gonna lie, it felt good.

Anyways if you see a game by THQ, 2k, EA or Activision for the US price and you want it, buy it ASAP. I have done this with Borderlands, DoW2:CR, BC2 and now Mafia 2.

I could run L4D and L4D2 fine on high with my Core 2 Duo 2.13GHz. Don't know the exact frame rate but it ran smoothly.. better than most games released of the same time period.

I haven't tried CSS yet but I randomly got the urge to play TF2 last night and it locked up and froze when launching, tried again and it did the same thing while loading a game.

Seven 64 bit
Core i7 930
6gb RAM
9800GTX+

Source games are very CPU demanding, though your 2.5Ghz C2D should do the job :)

JW-toch

Actually generally they're not demanding games at all, certainly not "very" demanding.

CoD, I play demolition with my friends and it's a lot of fun, also the movement and gunplay is quite good despite imbalances. It's fun taking a break from CS and going into MW2 and ripping it up with your friends, it's so easy to dominate in that game if you're in a good party.

BC2 is a slow and clunky game with terrible gunplay, I don't like it at all.
