@Aryck1095 Exactly. MS is known for its security. I mean, when has an MS product ever been hacked. Everyone knows Windows has always had better security than Linux coz Linux is free. No one has ever had their Xbox Live account hacked because it is paid for so more secure.
@spenceslivn @BillyColeman @Gondorei Perfectly said, it is their policy to make money. But making money and good for consumers are mutually exclusive. What article says is that it is for making money, doesn't benefit consumers.
My take on this: This is a clever piece of PR and marketing. Note that it is a patent filing. Lots of patents are filed but never get used. The info leak is about patent filing, just to test waters and community reaction.

There is a smart way Sony can use this to your advantage. They have used game blocking tech in place, but it is up to individual publishers if they want to use it or not. So, this way sony shifts the blame on to publishers. Of course, they'll have to make sure their first party games don't do this for this excuse to be credible.
I don't by used games, but have many friends who only buy used games. I am sure if Sony goes ahead with this, they will not buy PS4. And guess what system I'll not buy coz none of my friends are playing on that?
@VeeArSick @Bren128 Good for you. At least you chose the service for right reasons and are not harping on about how Live Gold is still better and worth $60 a year.
@gamer-clemm @spenceslivn What extra peripheral is required to use free PSN? I been using it with nothing but out of box peripherals and never had to buy anything extra. Am I missing something?
@spenceslivn @gamer-clemm Care to mention which PS3 peripherals and other extras are costlier than Xbox ones? Only ones am aware of are like how Xbox uses DVD yet charges same as PS3 charges for a BluRay. I'd consider DVDs a lesser quality product or peripheral [well, technically media]. When I bought PS3 it gave bigger built in HDD than Xbox did. Dunno about Xbox but I can swap in any hard disc drive off the market and not be forced to buy a proprietary HDD.
@Armysniper89 Have you googled "xbox live account hack"? There are websites "selling" hacked Xbox live accounts. So, in case you're paying Xbox Live for security, you're deluding yourself or just buying into PR talk. If you think you can "trust" Microsoft, or any other company for that matter, you're really naive.
What is it with angry douches and this time of year? Last year it was Ocean Marketing guy and now this. Maybe he should hire that guy. They'd both fit in right together and generate enough controversy.
BTW, those who're saying bad press is good press. Yeah, more people know about this, but more people also know that:
1. This is not Day Z.
2. It is buggy and not as good as Day Z.
Bad press works only when bad part of it doesn't come from product. Would you eat at a restaurant that generated bad press for rats crawling around in kitchen and eating area just coz it made it to cover of TIME as worst restaurant in world?
