Sony really needs to start blocking Microsoft on some of these acquisitions, because Microsoft is following the Disney playbook and it's just gross.

Sadly, the $100 price tag, coupled with the abscene of some of TG16's most notable (and some of my favorite) games, just kills all my interest in this thing.

@deviltaz35: Yeah, but you can't sell a pink phone to dudes. Slap a 'gold' on there, though, and it sounds baller.

I think my favorite description of rose gold came from John Oliver (or one of the writers on Last Week Tonight), when he said it looked like someone barfed a salmon dinner onto a pair of dirty ballet slippers.

@asnakeneverdies: Ah. I missed that in the image. I just saw the gold and wanted to vomit. Then I read in the article that there's also a "rose-gold" version wanted to gouge my eyes out. Why would anyone promote the two ugliest options first?!

Seriously? How the f*** do you not make it Platinum? It's a friggin' Playstation. Nobody brags, "I got a Gold trophy." Because who gives a sh*t? If you care about trophies, you want that Platinum.

@twztid13: I think it was a mix of things. The characters didn't really click with me, with everyone (specifically the group you start with) being mopey and angry and miserable to spend time with; the game was emo before emo was even a thing, and I could honestly believe the whole thing started with FFVII. Also, I recall the pacing was just horribly slow, with the story constantly sputtering and stalling, so it felt like after the opening part in the reactor the game just lacked momentum. And I definitely remember being bothered by how much it was leaning into the futuristic/sci-fi elements, which wasn't at all what I wanted from a Final Fantasy game. Yeah, FFVI (FFIII here in the US) had mechs, but it still felt largely grounded in a fantasy setting. With the guns, machines, cars and motorcycles, and all the other advanced tech in the game, it felt too far removed from the previous games for my tastes. There was probably also the whole hype train working against the game, because my hopes and expectations were set so high...no game could've lived up to that.

Here's hoping the world still exists come November.

I really worry that it's been too long, that too many of the people who made the original have moved on, and this won't be able to live up to the hopes and expectations of the fans. Even so, I can't not buy it. At this point, I'd even happily take a mediocre STALKER over none at all.

Despite being a huge Final Fantasy fan, I remember kinda hating FFVII when it came out. I think it took me at least three attempts at playing it before I even managed to reach the point where I had to put in the second disc. I ended up selling the game to a friend who was dying to play it - and I wouldn't let him just borrow it, because I was determined to recoup at least some of the money I felt I waste on the damn thing - only to buy the Greatest Hits version years later from a store that was going out of business; it was only $9.99 and I felt compelled to see it all the way through, because I was seemingly the only person who didn't like the game and I assumed to had to be missing something. I think I did eventually beat it - though, I honestly couldn't tell you how it ended - but still never came around on the game. I'm one of those weirdos who prefers VIII and IX over VII, even though it took me awhile to warm up to VIII.

I'd be curious to see if the remake could make me finally enjoy those characters and the story, but I don't see me ever paying money to find out.

I like the overall design - it's pretentious as hell and that's very Sony - but I question whether they can adequately cool the internal components with that design. That doesn't look like a lot of venting, and this thing is going to run hot. Personally, I was hoping Sony would follow the modern PC case trend and incorporate a large section of mesh for better airflow and lower thermals.
