@MonsieurX: No I didnt, but from this response I got that you dont want to have a conversation or just dont want to read my responses.
I dont want to explain myself to your every one liner anymore.
@MonsieurX: No its not, but Sony will hold most likely the status quo and not intodruce any further anti consumer practices which would come natuarilly if MS were the marketleader.
Look at the PS3. Very high end hardware, backwards compapility, new disc format, free online, wifi included (lol) and they were willing to sell it at a ~200$ loss. Almost the same as the PS1 and PS2 if you think about it.
Of course the market rejected that proposal because of the 600$. Im expecting the PS5 to be very similiar to the PS5 and I would be okay with it.
"very high end hardware"
I guess they went backwards and remove several things because of M$,right?
Nope, that was because nintendo made a load of dosh with huge mark ups with the Wii. (I stated that in my last post to sSubZerOo)
Edit: I cant say for sure but I believe they got almost as much money or more money from hardware sales as software sales.
Sony and the other ones dont live in a bubble, their actions and sucess stories influence the other ones.
@sSubZerOo: I agree with you on the locked online and backwards compapility points. But nintendo as a marketleader is not not ideal either. What consequences did we get from the Wii? Cheaper hardware, (Both PS4 and xbone) gimmicks attached (xbone). Then there is the whole region locking and how they drop support too early which MS does too.
I want Sony as a marketleader just from the historical data we have. The PS1 and PS2 were great marketleaders with great variety in games and almost no drawbacks. Sony started to lock online after MS established that practice when they were marketleader and they dropped backwards compapility when they saw rising sales after they dropped it with a revision, again because they needed to do that to compete.
See I am perfectly fine with cheaper hardware if it means we are going to get great games in return.. Devs all too often now a days are literally releasing graphically great looking games but very shallow dumbed down products overall.. Not to mention the drive for a supposed "cinematic" approach.. Which translates for me to a game with little thought process and real decision making covered over very linear gameplay and little replay value.. Give me Deus Ex Human Revolution ANY DAY OF THE WEEK over something like the recent Killzone. And don't even get me started with the horseshit of pushing for a 30fps instead of 60 fps (or higher) performance by both Microsoft and Sony.
You say recent killzone, but GG have a new IP in the works that from the few details we have could be very unique (Robodinosaurs). I have no problem if developers go for 30 fps, hell Dark souls is one of my favorite games and you know how their games run. I think you look at it too black and white. And nintendo is not famous for starting new ambigious IPs regulary.
Just because I like the way Sony does things, doesnt mean I support the latest Ubisoft or Activision abortion.
BTW Deus Ex Human Revolution is one of my favorite games. I love the cyberpunk setting.

Wouldn't it be a better incentive to NOT lock online while the other one is doing it?
Dat logic
Not when you get free money for it while getting almost no blowback from it.
MS did even get praise from the media and consumers alike for it the whole last gen.

@MonsieurX: I dont really care, but someone who went with a WiiU really early on should not judge other people for buying consoles on a promising future.
The WiiU did not have much at all in 2013 but everyone broadly knows what nintendo will release in the next few years.
Because Sony is currently at the top solely based on hype, look at how much it sold without any significant games
No, Sony is currently at the top because they didnt screw with their customers last gen. They supported their console right up to the launch of the PS4 and I could name a lot more reasons why the PS4 is selling the most but I believe this "generational transition" reason is one the most important ones.
Edit: In other words its a customer trust that Sony build with their last 3 consoles.
New Super Mario Bros\Luigi Bros,Wonderful 101,Pikmin 3,WWHD and Super Mario 3D World was good enough for me. And it still more than what the PS4 is currently offering in terms of exclusives
I wont shit on the games to make a point but I personally disagree, especially if you factor in the whole library.
