Ok I am now into the rings of Pandora and the challenges of certain gods I am past the first one which is Atlas, I didnt have problems with the mass of undead soldiers that kept respawning they were easy to get past, although I did have a few problems with the pack of Gorgans that came after but a lot of perserverance and I know past that. The next section with the few undead warriors up the stairs posed no problem to me I ripped them apart. The cursed archers the other side of the cavern were of no threat to me.
You didn't really have to battle those Gorgons as you could easily ignore the Undead Legionnaires that precede them. *though you kinda have to fight a few (when not skipping) by the door for ease of progressing* I would have suggested launches into PR *under where the crank that lowers the weight was*. Also Infinite Air Grabs as you CANNOT be stoned while doing grabs or PR. *just don't be in air too long..if you are..try Hermes Stomp into a roll*
When I got down the rope, the section going accross the rope with the undead coming onto the rope to get me kind of gave me a few problems but I gave it a lot of practise and kept chipping away at it and getting further with each attempt I put at it and eventually got through it with no problems. Taking Hades sheild I thought I would have a few teething problems as I remember not being able to get past it first time it took me a few fair go's at it to complete it, but I think what helped me this time around getting through it the first time I had the spirit and Valour moves on the blades which helped me get through it faster than the first time of playing the game.
A single kick to grab works wonders when you get good with it. AKheon has a new trick concerning rope fights but I don't have any practice with it myself *it will likely be considered a high level combat exploit*..I will correct this later as I'd like to do a little spelunking with it...
For Hades Shield, whoring of Spirit/Valor works, but back to back grab option "square" throws of Undead Legionnaires *or "O" on the Cursed Legionnaires* along the barrir works great..and PR really speeds things along *powering through that part is easy and quite enjoyable*.
The next section proved to be a little tricky, I did get through the room with the rolling blades in the floor easier this time around than I did in the first but it was the section after that with the conveyor belt and the closing spike walls, they did prove to be a problem for me on the way in on the way out of that area I did get into the R1 command and that got me through that section unscathed.
To be honest, I still have timing issues at that part. So you got used to Hermes Rush then? Good. Youshould *for fun if nothing else* get good with the various attacks you can use stemming from it:
R1
(air) R1 *I like this attack more for exploiting/positioning in a hurry*
NOTE: Follow up with rolls to cancel its landing buffer
R1 to roll *repeat for canceling effect*
R1, R1
R1,R1,R1 *I don't like Hermes Fury personally*
R1, square...*no real reason for this set-up unless you wish to have a Rush to Might*
R1, triangle...*a good starter which has thefaststrong set-up..good for Spirit of Hercules*
R1,triangle (hold) *startup plus Ascension if I recall right*
R1,R1, square *Rush to stab to Valor*
R1, R1, triangle *Rush to stab to Plume*
R1, R1, triangle (hold) *Rush to stab to Ascension*
R1, R1, triangle (press and hold triangle during the actual explosion of Plume for an Ascension follow up)
NOTE: You can of course mix into other unlisted attacks but this gives an idea as to where you can go with the attack
I didnt have any problems in the sections with Atlas and raising his boulder to break through the doors, nor did I have any problems taking down the enemies down in this area. The wall on the way to the temple at the top was easy taking out the undead and the haripes along the way, I did have a few problems in the room at the top with the sirens and the soldiers with the sheilds, but after I got into my rhythm I got there and took them down in no time.
And just what was this "rhythm"? Details PLOX.
I got to the section of the circular arena and taking on the first 3 headed cerebus and also the puppies, well I had some severe problems there. No matter what i tried it didnt work for me, but in the end I went with a blast of medusa's gaze at the big Cerebus and then the good old trusty plume, and then I eventually got through there and on to the second set of desert kings. I took full advantage of the bridge leading up to the arena and killed them from there, and the archers well they were a push over, I got all the chests in the revolving room which I was unable to get the first time around.
Gorgon Flash to crushing for the Breeder and Plumes for pups was it? You could want to get good with taking advantage of the fact that Breeders can be launched/bounced in GoW1..so they have Infinite Air Grabs *takes a while*. Also, PR does great against Seeds. In the NUR/NUR+..they are far more troublesome. strong understanding of how to use Orion's Harpoon effectively will help.
All very good.
The second section of that area with the Legion captains, they were easy and the mintaurs were a joke to me as I got further up because I now have level 5 maxed out blades and they were a push over for me. I am now into the section of where I have to push the crate with the undead soldier up the hill whilst taking out the undead warriors as I go up to fry him so I can get further. But I dont think I am going too badly at the moment and I will be back to keep you posted when I have got even further in the game.
Did you get to practice the launch to air grabs to grab to launch to air grab strat on any Captains? You could find yourself using Gorgon Stare and/or Flash *they can be combined in GoW1* to allow for Captain crushing as that allows FAST progress up the hill while dropping the cage 1/2 way on one of the various rocks.
