Might get a PS3 and these games. Rate my choices.

-Metal Gear Solid 4
-Ninja Gaiden Sigma
-Assassin's Creed
-Grand Theft Auto 4
-Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Great choices! Add Burnout Paradise to that list and you've got an elite and balanced collection going on there.

Metroid Prime final boss takes about 20+ minutes for skilled players.
The first time through, including deaths and retries, it probably took 3 hours to beat.

Actually I'd say most Metroid Prime, and Metroid Prime sequels, have at least three bosses in each game that take at least 10 minutes to beat. And on first tries they take a lot longer.

$250. Anything over and I think you'd be pushing it.

Dark Mirror. It doesn't have those ridiculously difficult underwater missions, and the replayability is much higher IMO. If you like DM then move on to Logan's Shadow.

Yep, so I finally took the plunge, shelled out about $450, got a 80GB PS3, Burnout Paradise, and DBZ: Burst Limit.

Although now I found out I need an HDMI cable for HD. =( Gotta go buy one.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who helped answer my questions. So pumped. Can't wait to start playing. Hope it has a healthy lifespan...

GDC is all next week ....... but these rumors are not for the GDC event. We won't know anything until it all unfolds (which could take a long time)

So then, I guess I should just go ahead and buy a PS3 instead of waiting only God knows how long for the price drop?
