If you're a "gamer" then you would probably own a 360 / PS3 and a Wii. I'm a "gamer", I just haven't picked up a PS3 yet. I"m still playing my PS2 plus have logged many hours on my Wii and DS.

The 360 and PS3 offer the same experience... if you want the entire experience this current gen has to offer then you would have to buy a Wii.

http://www.megatonik.com/2008/04/20/mike-capps-says-epic-games-wont-ever-make-a-game-for-the-wii-we-go-forward-not-back/

Epic Games' president, Mike Capps, reiterated what Epic has previously said in an interview with IGN, stating that Epic won't ever be developing games for the Wii. It's not about the success of the platform to him, but what can be done on it. When asked whether there would ever be a time when Epic would be forced to give in and create a game for the Wii, Capps said, "no, we go forward, not back. It makes more sense for us to invest in the next-generation tech."

As for why he believes the Wii has become so popular, he says it's like a virus that just keeps spreading:

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. Obviously there's a large number of people who really love it and enjoy it and are getting into the games but I'm still waiting for that one game that makes me play it.

SaintsRowSam

I respect Mike Capps opinion but I don't agree with it. If you need graphics to sell a game so be it.

The same could be said in Nintendo's favour. There are a lot of good games the Wii has but the PS3 and 360 don't.

Either way you look at it... if you are a serious gamer and want to cover as many good games released this gen as you can... you pick up either a PS3 or 360 and then a Wii.

I think the Wiimote by itself is the most comfortable by far. It's just like a remote.

I have GCN, and it is sweet because you can get old NES games and play them. However, I rarely, if ever feel like sitting down and playing it. So I would get it on DS, because then you can take it with you.

yakk_3

Is it the same game besides the NES classics?

I want to get an Animal Crossing game but I'm not sure if I should purchase the DS version or the GCN version. Which one should I get?

[QUOTE="GamerForca"]Equal. Dragon Sword was very innovative and was very exciting for a DS game. GoW felt a bit watered down and was much too short, but had much better graphics than Dragon Sword and the action was better. The control nub still sucks ass though.wasted_wisdom

OK If i hear that watered-down crap from any sheep again, I'm seriously going to snap. Dude you really don't know wtf you're talking about. It's a freaking portable game, it's not going to feel exactly like crisis. You should be happy you could get a game of such quality on handheld, instead of complaining of some "Watered down ports" Wtf? If you ask me the which one is more watered down, I'd say Ninja Gaiden. Just the way it looks-but we're not talking about graphics. I really think nintendo should stick to the 2D 12th century crap, cause those pathetic excuse for 3D games are really disgusting to LOOK AT.

Here is a great example of different tastes.

I want a PSP but I won't be checking out Chains... I am looking at picking up Crisis Core, Final Fantasy 1 & 2, Dracula X Chronicles, Space Invaders Extreme and hopefully LBP. I have a DS and I'm just not interested in Dragon Sword either.

Hoping DMC is released by the end of '08... doubt it though.

I got the Nintendo Action Set when I was three. This year is my 20th year of gaming!

NES / SNES / N64 / Xbox (Broke) / PS2 / 360 (Sold it) / DS / Wii

I feel after all these years of gaming the Wii and DS have brought it together really well, past and present. Most of my old systems have gone to console heaven so I like the fact I can download most of my favorites from the Virtual Console. With games like Professor Layton, Wii Sports, Planet Puzzle League, Brain Age and Wii Fit they Nintendo are moving gaming into a different direction, a more mature direction IMO. Definitions of "mature" in the given context can vary... I also enjoy many of the great 1st and 3rd party franchises established by Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, Square-Enix, etc and will never stop playing them but I feel these would not be talked about around the water cooler as much as games like Wii Fit, Wii Sports and Brain Age.

Overall I think gaming is growing up and more people are starting to enjoy games... young and old... casual, hardcore or in between. :)
