Christmas bonus = lots of new games!

I just recieved my christmas bonus and I was surprised at the ammount, it was a good surprise indeed! I can say that this equals lots of new games!

I plan on getting Unreal Tournament 3, Drakes fortune, and even payoff a few games like GTA IV and Haze. I just might get Rock Band also! It was a big bonus, and getting all these games doesn't even puta dent into it!

I am gonna go into gamerscore Whore mode and get my gamerscore up to 30,000! Passing my arch gamerscore nemesis, TREKKER! HAHAHA!

A brief explanation for my absence

So I have been in the middle of moving for the past couple of weeks. I had Comcast come out 2 weeks ago and move my internet to my new house. This past sunday I had DirecTV come out and hook up my satelite. The Bozo's crossed my internet lines with my satelite lines, therefore cutting off my internet. DAMMIT! I have not been able to go online at my house. I am having Comcast come out on Weds. to fix the DirecTV screw up and having DirecTV come out this weekendto fix there end of the problem. Its been a big mess but we are slowly getting it taken care of.

Well, I am moving, and my two cents on everything going on, please read.

We finally got the keys to our new house! I am excited about moving, but a little bummed about it as well. I got my internet switched to my new house, but I don't move in there till this weekend! So that means no evening Gamespot, Xbox Live, Wii, or Playstation network till at LEAST Sunday! Guess I will have to go outside or exercise or something.......

Also, what was all this crap about Jeff getting fired for a review he gave? You can't get fired just because of an opinion if you are a columnist and your main topics are your reviews. If he did get the boot, he must have had some other issues. I see that there are a lot of people leaving because of this. Well, see ya! This website used to be real active and fun to check out all through the day because of all the activity, but that has passed. No one seems to care to share there thoughtsor gaming stuffin blogs, and not many people care about the unions anymore, so this change could not have come at a better time! I think they needed some changes and improvements to try and make this site what it used to be.

And for those of you that were shocked that someone could get repremanded for damning a sponsered game, wake up bro! Think of this, it would be like an anouncer saying "Welcome to the Half-time show, sponsered by Coca-Cola. By the way I think Coke sucks." Yeah I know, that you all feel decieved and think that Gamespot is lying to you, bad news bro but EVERY ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS DOES IT! It doesn't matter what website you go to, or what show you watch, the entertainment business makes money on sponsership and you can't get sponsered if you go and bite the hand that feeds you.

Not everyone can be a columnist either. There are ways that you can say a game is bad without stepping on any hands, its just all how you word it. Jeff was great at not doing that, sort of being the rebel columnist that spoke how he felt, and we loved him (or loathed him) for that. But you can only get by with that type of additude for so long, and eventually you will be punished for it. But hey, thats the name of the game.

To all of those that understand what I am saying, and you are not leaving Gamespot, be a little more active, please. I mean its sad that there areunions with thousands of members and like 3 posts a day! **clears throat** Hopefully the non-active ones are the ones that leave.

Cyber Lip: Historical Revisionism by ~tiggerboy~!

Background:

Contra.. All credit to Konami, its been almost 15 years since their legendary shooter hit the arcades and we, as reviewers, are still drawing comparisons (only now has the Metal Slug series finally given the now defunct Contra series a challenge to supremacy). Yet before we start patting ol' SNK and Nazca on the back for creating their own legacy, let's take a look back on SNK's first entrant into the world of Neo Geo shooters. After all, before there was Metal Slug, there was...well, Top Hunter. And before Top Hunter there was Cyber-Lip: their first foray into the world of Contra-stile platform shooters!

The story of Cyber-Lip is pretty standard fare (with the early Neo Geo tradition of a cheesy comic in the manual): By 2020, Earth has created a colony in space and created an android army to defend it from alien attack (from the manual's emphasis -or lack thereof, you can assume that aliens have been attacking the station from day one). All of a sudden Cyber-Lip, our master defense computer (picture Sky-Net from the Terminator series) decides to malfunction and attack us. The President is left no choice but to send Rick & Brook (soldiers with distinguished records fighting in the on-going wars here on peace-loving Earth) to go and stop the renegade Cyber-Lip. Join the fighting duo as they take the hopes of Earth into space!

Control:

Usually I don't begin a review with control, but Cyber-Lip is an exception. Cyber-Lip has excellent controls except for one single, vital omission: The ability to shoot diagonally. This has been one of SNK's weird eccentricities since day one: In Magician Lord, only one of seven characters could shoot diagonally; in Metal Slug, only the Heavy Machine Gun could should diagonally... And in Cyber-Lip, nobody can shoot diagonally except for your enemies (?!). Konami never made that error -and, as a result, even the NES version of the game shone. Cyber-Lip, for all of its good response and interesting power-ups, really suffers without the ability to understand the use of 45-degree angles.

Graphics:

Of the launch-games for the Neo Geo, Cyber-Lip (and Magician Lord) did the best job of showing off what the vast color palate of the Neo Geo was capable of. While the visuals are dated by today's standards (it is over 10 years old), it still keeps you watching. Just don't be too surprised if the enemies don't vary very much in design or the backgrounds stay within a certain stile-it shouldn't get in the way.

Music/SFX: Sphero-Syphony Strikes Again!

Heaven only knows why SNK composed its early games using the "Sphero Symphony" concept, but it just dilutes whatever good sounds they had created for Cyber-Lip. The music is rather primitive, but appropriate to the dark Sci-Fi theme. Nothing too terrible, but it could have been a lot better without being "Sphero-fied."

Overall:

Cyber-Lip hasn't really aged all that well, but its still not a total loss. It can usually be found for a reasonable price, and even without the diagonal-shot feature it can be fun with two people. There are a few attempts at multiple paths in the game (rudimentary, but appreciated), and the ending is actually quite refreshing for such an old Sci-Fi game. Other than that, there's really nothing more to be had.

Mass confusion here in my world!

So I went to our vacation home at Lake Chelan here in Washington for Thanksgiving. I took my cell phone, but forgot my charger, and since its a PDA cell phone, the battery life is pretty short. I got home on monday and quickly started charging my phone. After charging it up, I noticed that I had voicemails. I go to check them and I have 16 of them! The first four or so were family and friends wishing me a Happy Thanksgiving. The rest however, were people calling me to see what happened to me.

Heres the story:

As you may know, NFL player Sean Taylor was fatally shot in his home. He died in the hospital the next day. My name happens to be Sean Taylor. So a friend of mine posted a myspace messageover the Thanksgiving holiday that stated"R.I.P. Sean Taylor, he was a great guy..."

So of course when my friends saw her blog post, they thought it was me that was popped! I probably spent 3 hours on the phone calling all my friends back letting them know that I was not dead. It was pretty crazy day yesterday!

I have also been playing Mass Effect and I gotta say, its a fun game! Its hard to go between that and Assassins Creed though. They are both great games!

I am moving next week, so you might not see me on Live, or Gamespot, for about a week or so. I also have shipped BigC43's Kane and Lynch prize that he won in a contest at my True Gamers United Union. There will be other contest with prizes, but you must be a member to qualify! So get there and join!

Other than the mass confusion of my demise, i had a good thanksgiving and I hope that all of you did as well!

Assassins Creed is a game unlike any other!

I have been playing Assassins Creed for a week now, and I gotta say its one awesome game! Its a mixture of GTA with a Splinter Cell like feel to it. You are in a mostly open ended world, I say mostly because there are areas that you have to unlock to access. I think that everyone should give this one a try.

The Being Broke Saga begins.......

I just picked up Assassins Creed, Blacksite: Area 51, and Super Mario Galaxy today. I still have to pick up contra IV for the DS and I am pretty broke as of right now, and it looks as though I will be till about oh, FEB. of'08!

Man, I am so broke......

Geez, new games are like my fix, I gotta have em all! Well, lets see just what I have fully purchased in November:

Super Mario Galaxy

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Assassins Creed

Crysis

Blacksite: Area 51

Mass Effect

Games that I want but have not paid off yet:

Need for Speed: Pro Street

Haze

Looks Like I am gonna be working some overtime to support my addiction.
