The importance of reviews and who it effects. READ THIS!!!
by tiggerboy on Comments
I made some pretty harsh comments about Jeffs review of Bioshock, which I thought was a game that deserved AT LEAST a 9.5, if not a 10. I think that alot of you gamers don't understand just how important gaming reviews are when they come from major gaming websites such as Gamespot, IGN, OXM, etc...
Picture it like this, say Ebert and Roper were game reviewers. If they give a "game" a poor review, people in the demographic that watch the show will sway there opinion on whether or not they willbuy it or one that recieved a better review. So if game A gets a 9 but game B gets a 9.5, game A will not see as many sales, its just a fact.
Now take that perspective and view this, game developers don't work 9-5. No, see in our (I do mean our because I am in my second year of becoming a game developer myself) business we have the luxury/curse of being able to work from home, and even in offices that we sleep in, because we work at LEAST 12 hour days, sometimes 6 and even 7 days a week! We don't get paid huge salaries and such, nowe get paid hourly, or a small salary, which usually is not that much. If we do get paid salary we will get paid for 40 hours weekly, but may put in between 60-80 hours, which does not take a math whiz to see that its 20-40 hours that we DO NOT GET PAID FOR. On the other hand, we do get bonuses, sometimes we even get bonuses quarterly. Also, the company that we work for placesbids on games that need to be created, and the better our games turn out, i.e. rated and reviewed, the more likely we will getmore jobs we bid higher on because we have a good reputation of selling a highly valued product that makes our companies stock rise, and in the end its the stock holders that get the real rewards for the games, and if they are happy, then we are happy. Trust me, I bet Bungie gets offers to develope games all the time, where companies that create games like Company of Heroes might not get as many game ideas for FPS (the leading seller genresof videogaming)because of the poor reviews and ratings of that game.
You see, reviews from you and I are one thing, but when its a review that has the potential to sway the buying decision of hundereds of thousands of people, its a big deal. So don't go on saying stupid stuff like reviews are not a big deal and people are being ignorant for getting upset about a review, because they are a big deal. I understand that when I was steamed about the game gettting a 9 instead of at least a 9.5 people thought it was dumb because it is like trying to justify why a test should get an A+ instead of an A, but this is my future here, this is real. This isn't just a bunch of kids with there free memberships to a gaming website arguing about some guys review, this is a big deal to me. When you have a family and are working, maybe when your job and cashflow fall on a persons view of your job and it could effect your paycheck, then you will better understand where I stand onGame Reviews.
Sorry forthe long strung out rant, but I had to get it off of my chest.
Thanks for listening.

Lost the Rainbow 6: Vegas tourney, won some new friends
by tiggerboy on Comments
I had a blast at the rainbow 6 tournament. We only had 4 out of 6 show up, which wasn't good since the other team had all 6 show. It was almost lost when we quickly fell to 0-3 but I actually one a match and my friend PHAROAH one another. Hell he killed everyone on there team. So we got our spirits up thinking that we might have a chamce, but the game ended the next round when our VIP was assassinated.
The good news however, is that I made some friends from the opposing team. They are cool guys that play very well. So all was not lost, in fact I feel that making new friends is more important than any other prize.
Now if I can only get my emblem this time.....
I got a R6: Vegas tourney today

Internet connection down + wierd Xbox Live problem = ruined weekend!
by tiggerboy on Comments
I got home at about 1 p.m. on Friday and took a little nap. At about 3:00 I woke up with a urge to play some Gears of War. I start my 360 and I get an error message stating that my 360 can not get online. I tried for about 20 minutes to fix it when I realized my whole house was down! I called Comcast to be told that the yearly repairs and upgrades were being done and that I would be with out internet for the weekend!!
Thats not all.....
I also got an interesting email (Had to go to my office to check it!) stating that the Xbox Live Team was sorry to see me go and that my account would be closed on 8/15! I never wanted to cancel it. So I called them and got a couple of retards before someone could help me deal with it. I finally got it fixed, but could not enjoy it! I also noticed that my Live account showed that I wason away status for like 2-3 days! Thats wierd since I could not even get on live.......
Oh well, at least my house got cleaned up, really cleaned up.
By the way, I got internet back at my house so its all good now.
