I woke up at 3am eastern time to check out the amazon deals as I thought they would be offering something big cheaper, i was hoping guitar hero world tour, but it turns out they just knocked the prices down on a bunch a games. So for x-mas one of my sisters got the new banjo-kazooie, the new cooking trainer for the ds it was knocked down to 9.99, and my sims animal kingdom for the wii which was also close to 50% off. After going back to bed I woke up at 8am even though I was suppose to get up at 7am to go to the game crazy sale right away, when i got there had to wait for an hour in line, but was able to get what I went there for......

It was worth the wait and these will keep me busy at least past my x-mas break.

 

I will still be doing impressions blogs soon as I have said, but not today I am working on all my schoolwork for teh rest of today, and I might pop Vegas 2 in later....tomorrow I plan on having my cousin over to play some madden, fifa, little big planet, and a bunch of other games for most of the day.  Sunday I plan on finishing the rest of my work and watching football, then monday im back to school for 15 days then im back home for 40 days until the end of Jan.  Also I have been extremly sick all week since ive been home and havent been able to do a whole lot of what I wanted to do 

Im home until the weekend after thanksgiving. I gave my 2nd 360 to my sisters so I got them lego star wars II today at gamestop so they could have a game to play...plus my sister got sega superstars tennis from goozex with some trade points she got from trading in a ds game. Ill be playing sega superstars and lego star wars when I pop home every now and then. I also got the origional half-life for my self on the ps2 becuse I really dont play any pc games at all. It does however look like the next game I will get is spore for the pc...ive wanted that since it came out. I have a few papers to write this week so i probally wont be playing all that much. My next blog will be on my impressions of little big planet which I picked up last week...and maybe teh two games mentioned earlier if i get around to playing them.

The Prettiest Crap of A Game.

 

I really loved the mirror's edge demo.  I loved everything about it from the flow of the game to the controls to what you would be doing in the game.  The demo was the first leval of the real game, and teh demo is very decieving.  When the game actually gets going after the prologue the gameplay has countinualy been on a downward slope from fun platforming to smash my head against a brick wall platforming.  If you are one second off or miss a jump by an inch you are promptly sent to the loading screen.  A few failures here and there are expected, but mirror's edge is over the top with them.  You will be playing fine for an hour and then get to a part that you will be stuck on for a half hour wither countinuously missing a jump or trying to figure out how to get to where you need to be.  This game is the definition of trial and error, and be very caustious if you were looking to get this game.  YOU REALLY NEED ALOT OF PATIENCE.

As far as other aspects of the game goes the graphics are exceptional, the contrast between all white backgrounds and then brightly colored areas is genious.  The game is also very innovative and has basically created a new genre of first person platforming, which in future similar realese of the series or a different game fixes a lot of teh problems this game has.  The story is also pretty decent, it is better than dead space, and teh cutscences are in a different visual style than the rest of the game.  The story does however seem pretty thin as I am about 40% done the game already in about 2 and a half hours of playing, and there has been very little plot and character development outside some general aspects.

 

Overall I am enjoying the game, but it is ridiculously frustrating.  EA and Dice did a good job, but the actual gameply isnt enough to live up to how I thought this game was going to be.  Right now I give it a 6.5/10.  With a chance that the score could greatly improve, this is the lower end.  I def wouldn't buy the game.

All right I have the weekend off from work, and I was abel to get by a few chapters, and I only have two chapters left.  Im gonna say this right now DEAD SPACE IS UN BELIEVABLY AWESOME!!! The game is just fantastic.  I honestly have gotten pretty scared from, playing in teh dark and with headphones on.  It is the scariest game I have ever played. 

Today we had our video game club meeting, and we played the Left 4 dead demo like crazy.  Litterally hundreds of fast moving zombies attacking at once.  I will prolly give this game a rent after Mirror's Edge, because it doesnt look liek there is a lot of depth to teh game.

Speaking of Mirror's Edge I have it coming from gamefly very soon.  I absolutly loved teh demo, and have high expectations for the game.  It is just a very cool concept.

 

Dead Space rating uped to 9.5....only reason why I am not giving it a 10 is because of the lame story, and the campaign only runs about 8-10 hours

 

All right I am in the middle of chapter 7...stuck on a part were i have to do something with this big asteroid.  I think everynight or two while I'm playing the game I will do a quick blog on one aspect or part of teh game for tonight lets go with the navigation system in the game.

 

You can easily find the next objective in Dead Space bu clicking down teh right stick.  Issac uses his kinesis power and marks a line to where the next objective is.  I havent seen this type of percise navigation in too many games.  With that said I am kind of mixed about how effective it is, it is too effective.  The system has taken a lot of down time out of thr game while trying to find objectives, and it makes the game too linear.  It is however very good in keeping the action of the game flowing.  I am just not a big fan of the navigation, it seems to me like dumbing the game down, but it is effective non the less. 

After completing the first 4 chapters out of I believe 12 it is safe to say I can write an impressions blog about dead space.

The game started me in control of a space marine(surprisingly did not have huge muscles), on the way to investigate a few problems with a large mineral drilling ship which is ironicly in space.  There are 4 commrades with me, but two of them are killed when teh ship I am in crash lands inside the big ship known as Ishamura.  The two remaining commrades instruct me with various objectives.  In teh first Chapter I had to clear a path and activate the tram system inside ship so I could get to other parts of the ships.  The subsiquint chapters have me going to a different part of the ship in order to retreive something or get some kind of system back online.  So far the story is ok.  Basically the ship was overrun with alien creatures that got into teh ship after the ship drilled into teh alien's planet.  There is a small emotional connection with the other two charecters, but I do not see the story being that great or playing out as a huge part of the game in the future.

The draw of the game for me anyway is the atmosphere it creates.  The ship is pretty creepy, and I was honestly startled a few times when playing.  Creatures tend to jump out when they are least expected to, which really creates an unknowing sense throughout the game.  The creatures themselves only come in a few different skins, and the shooting itself is a large part of the game but there is nothing magical about it.  The graphics are pretty damn good, and the enviorments inside the ship, although limited, are pretty creepy.

 

Overall game gets a solid 9.0 as of now

Things are still pretty busy here, but I have been allowing more time to play games. The two games I am trying to playthrough right now are Fifa 08( I will never stop playing this game) and teh first motorstorm. I am having fun with motorstorm. The action is intense, but the game is more frustrating then it has to be due to strong catch-up AI, and the fact that they just try to wreck you all the time.

For future purchases I am looking at getting a ps3 game after completing motorstorm and am leaning with.....resistance 2.....little big planet.....or possibly dead space....I will also be trying to get back into gaining acheivment points and trophies. Gamefly might be in the order but not right now.
