This seems like a really weird idea for it, but it could work. On the TV screen is FPS Metroid using the thumbstick controls, but in some parts of the game, you can use sidescrolling as well which will be seen on the gamepad in the traditional view that we've seen on the SNES, NES etc.
This could be used for Paper Mario like puzzles or even just to navigate around the map without needing the first person view.
