wow(no pun intended)... this is such a paid advert.
do yourself a favor, if you want a game like wow, go play rift...
its free, its also nothing spectacular, tbh....just so you dont think this is a paid advert.....but its different... it feels like wow, and its also a very complete and developed world like wow...the game went f2p some years ago...but its not too abusive a f2p model...earings(accessories) are paid and access to the auction house selling(to reduce farming) requires a purchase of 5$... i haven't paid a dime yet and am having as much fun as i did with pandoria...(speaking as a wow beta tester, and player for 6+ years)
dont spend your money on blizzard they don't f***ing deserve it imho...bloody sellouts
first off it is a good game, despite my gripes, i have come back several times, if i didnt think it was a good game i wouldn't of bothered...
but
This games problem has always been, imo, "no active leveling" even if its slower than the time based skill system, it would go a long way towards rewarding people for their game time and henceforth encouraging them to stay if they felt like they made progress while they were online...
because for a very long time you will be useless in any serious combat to your corp, little more than fodder... expect to kill a lot of rats, while you desperately wait for the relevant skills to level up, and not being able to actively influence your own progress means you will be perpetually behind behind anybody who started earlier, even if you cap out in some skills, you will not be as robust a pilot as somebody who started earlier.
to me its bitter sweet, i like to feel like i have some influence in how fast i can progress... beta'd eve and played for 1 year after, quit for another year, and came back for another year...and quit again, each time it was for feeling helpless for not being able to progress at a faster pace.
the game is very interesting and has a huge scope and massive complexity(hit/miss), it is a good game, but not for those who like at least some instant gratification.
@crimsonfilms yeah its goofy, further these comparisons are usually moot, since multi-platform development is usually made for the lowest common denominator...ie. it has to run on the slowest hardware, potentially limiting the scope and technicality of the game
@mi_hung_lo everybody is entitled to an opinion... and your lack of objectivity, and blind "neutrality" is just as unappetizing
similar but not the same, you just cant spot the difference...if anything this video does show how crappy the game is, as there is little difference in gfx... tiny amount of sharpness and fog effects on the pc version.
@kenundrum7 thats fine if they want to do something different, just don't call it an open world sand-box.
hes not asking dev's to conform, just to create a more convincing, real simulacrum... something most developers, and artists, that try to portray reality actually strive for, not shy away from.
just because you create a lot of digital real-estate in a game, does not automatically make it a sandbox game...
