I have afterburner and looked at fan speeds. I think when it is AT 86c the fan speed was at 66%. It is on automatic.

Does anyone else do this with an i5 2500k? I have a hyper 212 but I failed miserably at putting it on ( I was so nervous because it was my first build). So I just ditched it and finished the build. I overclocked the day after the build to 4.2 and ran intel burn on high settings and that resulted in 1 core gaining a max of 81C. On standard test however I believe it didnt get hotter than 73C. I decided to game on the thing and afer a couple hours (witcher 2 maxed)checked the temps and it was an average of about 67C. My Card gets hot btw like 86C gtx 580 is no joke..little worried about that. So does anyone else do this? I know I could go4.6 with the 212 but whatever.

I was in the same boat you are in a couple weeks ago. I ordered mine on newegg and its running all good no complaints (so far).

there are a couple things I woulda changed but i am not crying about it.

2 things I would get is a i5 2500k and a gtx 580 on your budget same things i got. i wouldnt cross fire or sli at this point a 580 superclocked can max everything minus a few games with a couple settings turned on. Or well actually it doesnt really matter I guess its a preference thing. I know nothing about ATI cards always gravitated more to nvidea.

Make sure to get a good motherboard mine is a asrock extreme4 gen3. So that you can sli or xfire down the road..like years

My power supply is a rosewill 630w 80+ certified...I would get something else even though mine has no problems yet.

and my case is a antec 300. I prolly shouldnt of gotten that case.... its not bad there were just better. IT HAS NO CABLE MANAGEMENT.

get 4-8gb of good ram make sure your windows version is 64 bit. And uhhhhhhhhh your good. O and a dvd burner but that is like 30 bucks. Lol and a aftermarket cooler if you plan on overclocking high. I have mine on a stock cooler @ 4.2ghz temps are fine.

The biggest tip I can give you is to watch this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPIXAtNGGCw . 3 part video on a guy from newegg putting together a pc. Extremely helpfull way better than the sticky on here.

but the software is the motherboard. That is kinda strange. Anyways I played the witcher 2 maxed without uber in hd for 2 hours and the highest clock temp was 61.... So i dunno what that burn test proves but so far its not much.

couldnt you just go to the bios if it fails? I mean tap delete when you boot and change in there? I think maybe ppl get a lil crazy with oc temps i doubt it will get that hot when im gaming but i could be wrong.

Also i dunno if i overclocked it right lol. I c ppl overclocking it in the bios but I am doing it in windows with my motherboard utility app. it drops without stress test to 1.6ghz like on idle. Im not sure if when you overclock you want it to stay at 4.2ghz and never drop or what. I like the throttle back though when its not being stressed. When you are in a game does it stress it 100% or does it throttle back in forth when needed, im not entirely sure how that works.
