unreal tournament 3 has much better texturing, crysis uses very little amounts of parallax mapping.

crysis is overrated as hell seriously, ut3 deathmatch is way more fun, yay crysis i can pick up objects i did in half life 2 since 2004, yay i can shoot down trees since turok, yay i can destroy a house, but the sections cant be broken up anywhere, the devs determine where the stuff falls apart etc, it's just nothing really new or exciting in crysis, feels like far cry with better physics/graphics, nano suit's a gimmick, yay i can add more armor run fast and get stronger yay.

unreal tournament 3 may not be about physics, but it's art direction/weapons/gameplay level design are all way better.

crysis is way overhyped.

the physics/picking objects up feel ripped off half life 2, added to far cry with better graphics, shooting down trees is alright, but doesnt really do much for gameplay,the destroyable houses etc, all predetermined stuff, half life 2 could do same physics/shooting down trees what crysis is doing now, the games alright but it feels like ive done it all before, to me it's even less fun than unreal tournament 3.

unreal tournament 3 is better, has better graphics.

The physics are nothing new on crysis been done on half life 2 etc.

the houses break apart in predetermined pieces etc, the only fun part about game i could see if you are in a house during multiplayer and someones blowing it up around you lol.

[QUOTE="ut3nophysics"]demo max single core athlon 64 2.4 ghz + 7800 gtx 256 mb.Lonelynight

ROFL! dude i told you tat it depends of ya RIG, look at ya rig man, You have a Single core processor and a 7800 gtx!! lol

people that got 8800 GTX AND QUAD CORES WILL GET ABOVE 50 FPS

if i got a 8800 gtx my fps would be same, i know duh, my cpu is fine.

No it won't

If i was running crysis on max with my 2.4 ghz athlon 64 with a 8800 gtx at 1600x1200 my fps would be roughly the same as quadcore, only the fps would drop less during heavy physics parts, but my a64 handles the physics fine, my outdated gpu holding me back.

The fill rate on the PS3 is significantly slower than on the 360, meaning that games either have to run at lower resolution or use simpler shader effects to achieve the same performance," he says. "Additionally, the shader processing on the PS3 is significantly slower than on the 360, which means that a normal map takes more fill rate to draw on the PS3 than it does on the 360. And I'm not talking about small differences here, we're talking roughly half the pixel pushing power."

Jason Booth was a 3D artist for most his professional career. He only recently started programming ( right before he hit Harmonix ), and has sense moved on to a social network start-up.

He is not exactly a "pro" on embedded systems performance/console weaknesses. While his complaints are well known, they aren't anything that can't be overcome by a little foresight and research.

Solid_Max13

pixel fill rate is important.
