Yes i do use Steam but in general PC's require regular updates through Windows update which sometimes mess up things and so on. i'm really handy with computers so no problem but still consoles are much nicer in term of stability, reliability, cost etc.
Not sure what you mean on the long run?
I have had pretty much all consoles since nintendo 8 bit and changed many PC's and i honesty can say a PC don't last more then 5 years top if you want to play the latest games with good settings.
So If you are to update your GPU to something that holds for 5 years you need to get the latest and greatest (like nvidia 1080 which cost twice a PS4 does). Then you don't get a nice controller and there is a risk something else breaks like your power supply etc. Then there is Windows. List goes on and on.
Console you buy one and get on with it. So no its not more cost effective in the long run in my opinion.
Sure consoles are basically a trimmed down version of a pc but still they are aimed for different crowd and purposes.
Pc will always be more powerful and offer more flexibility. Consoles offer ease of use, cheaper price, no tricky driver installation or anything and you can use them for a long time without worrying about spec and game compatibility.
I play on both console and pc and like them both.
PS4 is great for what it is. Personally I play the games and finish it and move on so I don't care about mods. If mods can worsen the user experience I can understand why they don't allow it. Still is modding is so important then pc is of course for you not consoles.
I even don't mind paying 5-600 for the console as long as it's worth it and I don't get gimmicks. The upfront cost is nothing compared to how much I spend on games.
I don't get the obsession with the costume price.
People buy 2-3000$ computer and complain about 100$ here and there.
In also seriously hoping that switch has already the same power as PS4 but I doubt it.
Project scorpio sounds very interesting and all but it's not out before next year and all the talk and comparison is just big air. Is we want to compare numbers and future consoles then put this next to ps5 which is or will be a future console at one point. It just don't make any sense. I wish news sites wouldn't write so much about a fantasy product until it's a fact what it will be and we have a release date that is not more then a few months away. Right now Microsoft seems to be really scared and wants people to not buy a pro so they keep talking trash and how good their not existing product does. I will buy them both but I'm tired about the heating these execs doing damage control.
