I don't necessarily agree with that practice however I do "approve" of what Capcom set out and achieved in regards to RE7 being a return to "its roots."
My personal investment in the deluxe version was due to my own hopeful belief at the time that Capcom would be returning to what sparked interest in the series from the beginning, something that in my opinion they accomplished on this outing.
Even though this is just in Japan it is really telling of the situation.
Hopefully the Switch isn't steered down the same path as its predecessor although history would indicate a repeat of this trend just based on the reaction from gamers to the Switch reveal.
Absolutely loved the main game and I think that longtime fans of the series will appreciate the nods to previous RE tropes sprinkled throughout this installment. Also glad I invested in the Deluxe version with it's season pass as well (though normally I don't usually go for those kind of things.) although I'm sure that will be a highly contested area of debate. Truth is even I am conflicted about what it means for gaming's future.
I have a feeling Nintendo will use these numbers to justify and further expand their exploration of the mobile gaming market. Let's just hope it doesn't detract from their endeavors in the console gaming arena.
I don't think this latest report surprises anyone who has been around the gaming industry for any extended period of time.
There are a few factors at play here for these dwindling numbers (as it pertains to the Wii-U.) but the more pertinent question will be whether Nintendo's new piece of hardware (the Switch.) will follow in this trajectory or reclaim the sales "might" that the original Wii was known for.
Switch's launch is creeping up on us so it is only a matter of time before we all get a feel for what is to come down the road.
@RaveNRolla: It was a more or less general statement in regards to multiple information that has been revealed about the game over the last few weeks. Seems like the game has all the tools to really "hit it out of the park" but we all know that that doesn't necessarily equate to it being a success.
