Someone explain the problem with sound if going converting the hdmi to a dvi.WGA-Sonic

You will get lower quality soundTruth01

That's not necessarily true. It depends on how you connect your equipment. HDMI carries both audio & video digitally. DVI just carries digital video. If you then connect your sound via the old red & white analog connections, you do indeed have worse sound. If you use an optical connection, you have equal (or possibly better - HDMI can use 2.1 as opposed to 5.1 surround) sound quality. But you will have more wires.

[QUOTE="MattHall"]Sorry if this has already been mentioned, just a quick question and trawling through 34 pages isn't quick.
My PC's TFT screen handles resolutions up to 1280x1024 and has a DVI connection. Can i use this with a PS3 to get a HD image, and what HD standard will i be looking at (720, 1080p etc)?
Thanks
Truth01

you will get an HD image. You would be looking at either 1080i or 1080p, depending on what your monitor displays

Actually, to view 16:9 content, you'd run it in 720p and have black bars at the top & bottom.
