Oh yeah. As long as it works, scoop that puppy up!

I'm just curious as to what everyone else bought or received when they got their PS3s. It's really tempting to go all out with a new console.
A couple obvious answers I'm expecting are:
- Extra controllers
- HDMI cable
- [insert game name(s) here]
What else? I'm just wondering how much you guys dropped off the bat.
Also, what was the first NEW game you bought?
Another option is to sell them to a game store that sells both vintage and modern games. Assuming you have a more recent console, you could get some store credit to use toward newer items. That's usually the route that I prefer to go, unless I know the games will make a healthy profit. Sure they may "rip you off," but you have to realize that your gear isn't worth what it used to be.
Ratings don't matter much to me one way or the other. I have played enough games to know off the bat if I will like it or not.
If there's a game I'm unsure about, I will ALWAYS rent it first. And I mean ALWAYS. That's half the convenience of being able to rent games..to try them out. It gives you an idea of how much extra content and replayability a game possesses. I have far too may friends who buy games they think are going to be awesome and then end up a week later disappointed and sorry for spending the hard-earned cash on it. Why risk it?
I really enjoyed GTAIV. The story was decent and there was plenty of content to last for quite some time. I haven't played the add-ons yet, but from what I understand, neither is as long as IV's story.
IMHO, if you're looking for a good way to start, why not try it from the beginning? Even if you've played some of it already, I always find joy in playing a game start to finish. Plus if there's any subtle references to IV in the add-ons, you won't miss out on the context.
I'll only buy a new game if it's a blockbuster, ie. CoD4, GTA4, etc. (Those are the some of the most recent games I have purchased "new".)
Anyway, when I buy a game in that fashion, I know for sure I am getting a clean copy with all the manuals and inserts intact. Any other time, I have issues paying top dollar for games that are less than spectacular, so I buy used.
I guess this topic should have been called "Does anyone buy NEW games anymore?"
.......
Wait... what? You're saying Mega Man isn't hard?!?! I say Ninja Gaiden either way. I love that game.. it's got a special place in my heart.Depends. If you don't mind difficult games, get Ninja Giaden.

Diablo!!
Okay, maybe that's not the best, but it's certainly one of my favorites.
You're right.. I guess it is coming off sounding that way, so I'm sorry for that. I guess I am already decided, but I was more or less hoping for someone to open my eyes to something I didn't know already.I think my DSi was a great purchase, but it sounds like you don't want one, so just go with a Lite

See that's the impression that I get, too.. I saw someone with a DSi taking pictures the other day, and all he was doing was snapping photos of us and putting Mario hats on our heads. I said to myself, "Aw..how cute." Then I asked the guy why he wasn't just using the camera on his phone, and his response was, "..........I don't know." Sorry guys, I'm still not sold. The camera and the downloads; though frankly, neither of them have been worth it so far. The only good service I've downloaded is Flipnote. But I also hate having out-dated technology. :P
