Have not seen whatever patch you guys are talking about. Then again, not sure what would need to be fixed on framerate. I've now played this game to completion on a high end PC and portions of the DE on PS4 and Xbox One.

While the overall framerate on PS4 is higher than it is on XB1 it hasn't really changed the experience, except that on the PS4 when the framerate does fluctuate I notice it a lot more. It seems to happen a lot in action sequences with heavy lighting effects (the fight scenes making your way through the burning village early on).

On the Xbox1 I've noticed very few slowdowns and no dips in quality until the cutscene where you first catch up with Roth. For some bizarre reason the texture quality seems to jump back and forth between hi res and low as the camera angles change.

Good move, or at least thank you to MS for not bowing to pressure and making a bad one.

Now before you break out the bullet points, I'm strictly referring to game related features and implementations. I don't wanna hear about how good it is at traversing the UI or how 'minority report' the voice commands and hand gestures are. Saying 'Xbox, On!' does not wow me either. At the minute the ones I know about are gimmicky like being able to shout at zombies in DR3(lol, wtf?)

Context: Hopefully at the end of the year I'll be buying a kinectless sku and Quantum Break will have been released(providing it turns out good), not to mention a hefty price drop if sales continue as they are. But in the instance MS keeps kinect as a pack in I was wondering what great benefit Kinect 2.0 actually has to gaming in general for the system and if it's worth waiting until it's eventually dropped even if it takes longer?

Some concerns: I think it's flawed as it doesn't have the advertised 1:1 experience for gaming that plagued the original Kinect and despite being a pack-in will be limited to UI functionality primarily with the odd casual game here and there(D4 & K.S.R). The lack of software also is concerning and shows even MS doesn't have quite as much confidence in it as they thought they had. People are telling me to 'wait and see' or 'hope' that devs use it in the future, which is not really a convincing argument for something I'm paying a premium for.

Do your best!

Why bother? If all the anti-kinect sentiment really does produce a kinect-less sku for xbox one, then the Kinect 2 is as dead in the water as the Kinect 1 was.

It's a new and experimental device. It's only going to be as good as the developers who are willing to try new things make it. If it's not a 100% given that it's installed in every console no one's going to risk adding more than gimmick features with it. It cuts their potential install base.

Oh well, fortunately Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start never gets old....

You think that's good? Wait until stereo driver update on 2015 to unlock Xbone's 15 TF GPU. Your PC won't stand a chance.

Oh, Jesus, you're real? I thought the cows made you up.

Scratch that. I WISH the cows made you up.

*sigh*, I'm so tired of hearing complaints about lack of innovation from gamers who won't pay for anything and crap their pants every time someone tries to introduce something new into the toolkit.

First, lets get one thing out of the way. Prettier, isn't innovation. It's a required checkbox item that must be ticked off before you guys will get excited about a new device, but it has nothing to do with the enjoyability of a game.

At this point what drives (or holds back) innovation is the input mechanism... The controller.

With modern game controllers your options for gameplay are aim and click or simon says (tap buttons in order). That's really all a game can be built around precision pointing, precision timing, or some combination of the two.

Everyone hates the Kinect for being imperfect, but at least it's an attempt to add something new to the toolset developers can use.

Been using Win 8 and 8.1 since they RTM'd. No issues. I'd kind of like to find a HDMI Tv tuner that runs well since of all the things hooked to my TV/Tuner in my den (PC, XB1, XB360, PS4, PS3) I spend by far the most of my time on the PC.

Xbox One - multimedia hub with no content (apps are supposed to be the focus right up there with games and right now there aren't any. Want DLNA playback, 3D movie playback, social apps. The hype was that it'd be a games box that would also let you do the social things you do on your PC while watching the boob tube (all in one media consumption). The apps don't exist to support it yet and what is out there is still ironing out bugs.

PS4 - For all the talk of superiority... There isn't that much on it to play. What is there is a shinier PS3 menu system and even less to do than on the Xbox One. It also has its share of bugs. (Doesn't help that I REALLY was turned off by Killzone and have no interest in Knack.)

Gaming in general - the fact that the fanboy hype that drives the news cycle is so far removed from reality and the fear that it's driving Sony/MS/Nintendo towards focusing their resources on the wrong things.

The differences between the PS4 and the Xbox One are overblown. The differences ARE there, but when you say you researched and PS4 didn't live up to what was promised. That's because the hype train behind PS4 is just as out of whack as the hate against the Xbox One.

As was pointed out above, even PC's with superior hardware have frame drops, lag spikes, etc. The difference is, over time, the specs and hardware of the consoles won't change and developers will get better at producing even, consistent experiences.

None of these systems are "Maxxed out".

I am hoping the hype train is maxxed out. I've got both consoles. It's frustrating to see first hand how similar/different things are and then go online and find people exaggerating (even in the news) so badly that it might as well be outright lying.
