It's too bad this is only coming to the 3DS... 3D is a gimmick and there's not enough good games to justify buying the system. Plus my wife enjoys it when I play Sacred Stones on a TV with the gameboy-to-GC player. Maybe it will show up on WiiWare eventually.
Gamespot needs to get out of the house! This isn't a racing game?! Next time I have to take a 12 hour trip from Iowa to Kentucky mountains I'm e-mailing gamespot to come drive me since they love "driving" and going through "little towns..."
@osxgp @Aletunda I don't understand how the Dreamcast relates to this conversation... Dreamcast was an astounding piece of hardware way above its time that died in the States because of crappy games like Seaman and Space Channel 5... Japan kept producing games for the system all the way into 2007, and now Watermelon is making an epic Pier Solar port for the Dreamcast this very second!
@GunBladeHero The #1 best reason to own the original Wii console is for the Virtual Console games:
1. Castlevania X: Rondo of Blood (TurboGrafx16/PCEngine) estimated cost in hard copy $190.00
2. Ys Book I and II (TuboCD16/PCengine) estimated hard copy $150.00
3. Super Turrican 2 (SNES) estimated hard copy $90.00
4. Sin & Punishment (N64) e. $50.00
5. Alien Soldier (Genesis/Mega Drive) e. $100.00
6. Shining Force I and II (Genesis/Mega Drive) easily a $100.00 in value.
I could go on and on down the list but here is the biggest money saver the Wii will give you:
The FRICKIN' NEO GEO games for only $9.00!!!!!!!!! These games on the MVS or even AES Neo Geo can run up to thousands of dollars!!! But they are arcade perfect on the Wii... Only disadvantage is that Xbox live has "Garou: Mark of the Wovles" instead of the Wii. Shame shame.
First a fascinating article on Watermelon and Magical Game Factory, then a video review of New Super Mario Wii U, then an even more fascinating review on the Wii U console itself... I'm really starting to like this Peter Brown guy where ever he came from.... Peter Brown and Carolyn Petit are the only reasons I still visit this website now.
Fantastic work, Carolyn. I love your writing and this article brought tears to my eyes, because resurrecting the arcade community has been a huge passion of mine as well. Watching that posted youtube video was very informative and very sad... Since I don't drink, hate bars, nightclubs (and I only dance for my wife) arcades have always been huge to me... maybe we can form a grass roots movement to alleviate ridiculous taxes on people like Ann who just want to give something to the community that doesn't involve alcohol.
Totally disagree with the author's introduction paragraph as I hate modern gaming in general. But excluding that, this was a really interesting article. Watermelon reminds me or Working Designs in their Sega golden age before their transitioned to PS1. I really want an English adaption of Dragon Force 2 for the Saturn as well as a Panzer Dragoon Saga resurrection. I think if this really caught on it might even bring Sega back into the console wars which would be amazing.
