my uncle has hired me to build him a beast worthy of mordor... muahhahaha:o

no but seriously he wants to spend like 1k to 1.5k, monitor included, to build the best thing he can get, we decided that he doesnt want wc, and he doesnt want a full size case, other than that... he just wants something amazing, i came up with this:

i know, corny screen shot, but i didnt feel like typing and linking everything.

tell me what you think, good or bad.

btw, i know i'm missing the cd drive, i'll worry about that later

[QUOTE="wolfdogelite"]i use w7 64 bit, it's good, and i love the new task bar, but it ends on june 1st, and then it will shut down your comp every 2 hours, or if you use the Release copy, then it's lasts till 2010, but still it's such a pain to transfer files, just go with windows vista, then upgrade to w7 when it's released. i like it though, oh and btw, you have to have an OS on your computer before you can install it, it's upgrade only.powerwolff

Yeah I would be using the release candidate since you don't actually have to install a real copy until March 1, 2010, and then just buying a fresh copy of windows 7 when it's out (Don't usually have a "ton" of stuff on my HD that I need to transfer)
Watch the calendar. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you'll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You'll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use. (Learn more about installing Windows.) Microsoft

Oh, and is it really true that you ahve to has an OS on your computer before you install it? I thought the disc you burn acts as an install disc which lead me to believe it could run by itself...but I have a copy of XP around anyways if I have to install that first.

trust me i did it too, i bought a new 750gb wd hdd, and i popped in the disc that i burned, and it booted up and when i went to advanced options, (it looks exactly like the vista boot screen does) it let me reformat my hdd but said i had to have a validated windows OS installed before i could install it, and you have do it from the os, idk why they care, it's free anyways, why do they care what was on their before you install w7

one problem I've experienced with my dual boot, windows vista x64 and windows 7 x64, is that for some reason windows 7 wont see my other hard drive, i have it on two separate hdd's, one 250gb and one 750gb, both work fine and i can see all of my windows 7 files and the hard drive if i boot into vista, but for some reason windows 7 fails to recognize the other disk, I'm not sure why, it could be that it doesn't like that it has it's own OS on it or it could be that windows doesn't have a driver for that specific western digital model, i don't see how that could be the case though, but other than that it works fine, so hopefully you have better luck than i did.

No it won't, i've waited for new cards to come out and i still got decent cash for my old ones, people don't stay up to date on hardware and don't really notice, well the average person buying them anyway. X360PS3AMD05
thats the thing, me and my buddy are pretty up-to-date when it comes to this, and i don't want to rip him off.

You'r right for Two 260 = mostly 295GTX : 295GTx will only outperform by a +5 to 10% over Sli 260GTX top But if you talk of something SLI 285GTX / incoming GTX300 / HD5870 & 5870x2 but I really Belive that ATI 5870 will be a Bomb compare to GTX300 :D Specially if they can perform the Myth Spec They Speculated one 5870 = 2.200 Gflops This is a Beast in Theory the spec. i wonder how GTX300 Will Come Back at it :D

But Anyway I really think unless you can sell ur pair of Geforce for 75% of the Original cost you bough Or That you'r A Rich Guy as hell id really not mind to switch now of GPU for a mere +20-30fps over ur Current Setup as it mostly already Overkill

id wait new Video card Lines up so then ud have something that may Durate you 2 Year According they are Beast as they say :D and before someting Double previous Gaming Power like if you compare Far cry Vs Far cry II

marcthpro

i know what you're saying, but the thing is, if i wait until the GTX 300 series is released to sell, then the value of my cards will plummet, and if i sell now and buy new soon then i have the chance to use the evga step-up program when the 300 series is out.

GTX 295= (2) GTX 260's in SLI, and I'll prove that, most of the time. For the price, it's not worth it. My buddy is going to buy each card off me for $150. and with that $300 i can buy one GTX 285, i would have to come up with another 200 for the cheapest GTX 295, and it wouldn't even be much of an upgrade. where 2 GTX 285's will destroy a GTX 295, check out this
