i asked the same question a little while ago, it turns out the 9600gt is called a frankenstein card by a lot of people, they arent using new technology they just took older cheaper parts and overclocked it, look at the stream processes of any 8800 and the same of any 9600gt, its half, 9600=64 stream processes 8800gt=112stream processes, even on the cheap ones, dont go with the 9600, wait for the 9800 or go with an 8800gt its worth it, or even a good cheap 8800gts like this one

does this system seem to have any bottlenecks, i'm building it from scratch and with all new components from newegg and tigerdirect, here is the stuff

xfx 680i lt sli

e8400 3.00ghz

ocz reaper ram ddr2 800, 4 (2x2gig)

320gb maxtor hdd 7200rpm

antec 900 series gaming case

eVGA 8800gts 512mb

vista home premium 64bit

dvd/cd burner

and probably a coolmax 600w psu (havent settled on this)on new egg its this address

so are there any problems i need to be aware of and , i plan to do some minor overclocking, nothing to ridiculous

thanx in advance

yea this pc is strictly gaming and music no files we have five other computers for that, this thing wont even hav microsoft word, so if the hard drive goes out i just lose game saves, but the mobo isnt gonna create bottleneck cuz like RayvinAzn said i shoulda gone with the 750i or better, oh and 680i DEFINITELY does support the *Wolfdale* only, with a bios update but i have extra cpus so no prob.

about the maxtor, our compusa was going out of buisness and so i got it for 50 bucks with tax so i thought it was a pretty good deal even if it is junk, and if i ever go to sli the 8800gts with another what kinda power do i need for that, it recomended 450 but i know that isnt enough

hey everyone im new to building pcs, but i know my way around one quite well, i just never sank over 1100$ into one like this before, so i bought a lot of the components already and ive been reading these and noticed other people that do this end up with an extremely fast system that bottlenecks in one spot, so to avoid that im here, this is the stuff i have or will soon buy:

xfx 680i lt sli

e8400 3.00ghz

ocz reaper ram ddr2 800, 4 (2x2gig)

320gb maxtor hdd 7200rpm

antec 900 series gaming case

eVGA 8800gts 512mb

vista home premium 64bit

dvd/cd burner

not sure yet on power supply(how many watts brand etc.)

my monitor is an Olevia 32in hdtv and i have a 5.1 surround sys.

so just wondering what (if any) the bottlenecks are and how i can fix them thanx in advance:)
