hmm, that's interesting, is this the board you got, because mine has those fatty heat sinks on the nb/sb and they stay nice and cool even when i overclock like mad (4.1ghz)and i haven't had any problems with it.

but i'm actually getting ready to start an insane overclock, starting tomorrow I'm going to start The 5Ghz Q9550 Overclock... idk if it's even possible, that fastest Q9550 is only 4.8ghz, but i figure what the hell, why not:D

i just got a swiftech cpu waterblock, and i want to see wht this thing can do.

about the i7, i have considered it, however it would be pointless, as adding up the cost of new ram, mobo, and the cpu would be so much money and then i would still be gpu bottle necked, so there is little reason to bother with it. would be cool though.

if i was you id jsut wait GT300 instead of spend that much money to get what a +40% boost ?! over 260GTX which is near a single 295GTX if not better in some case but since you'r abou tto spend over 650 of Video card that up to you i hope you can at last sell ur current 260GTX for money :P

But You'r gonna run it on two 1080P monitor in order to achive 2560x1600 or some Custom resolution that some game may support but here a chart anyway

marcthpro

that was my other point, i was wondering if the gtx 300 series was coming out soon? maybe the ati 5xxx series, but i would rather not change mobo's

why do people still use "p" when talking about pc resolution?? Is here some option i'm missing that allows you to switch between interlaced and progressive??

nakedzombie69

Yes, I'm using a TV, and in the Nvidia control panel it gives you the option to switch between 1080i and 1080p. i didn't know you could do that on a computer until i set it. but for TV's, you should know there is a big difference between 1080i and 1080p. as far as actual monitors go, no, you can't set it to interlaced, not that i know of.

i know, i don't expect to get to that point, when i first got my GTX 260, i said the same thing. and i am almost maxing everything out with these two cards, but i love spending money on new bleeding edge stuff. at least it's better than drugs...

besides, my buddy wants to upgrade, and he would like to buy both of my cards off me. if i was going to have to hunt around for a buyer, that would suck, but i have one before I'm even ready to sell them, so it's whenever i want to upgrade.

one other question, still related, if i buy a new GTX 285 from EVGA, do you think the new 300 series cards will be out before the 90 day step-up window ends?

i guess what I'm saying is, when do you think the new GTX 300/ ATI 5xxx cards will be out?

it would probably beat a GTX 275, at least in good sli optimized games. i know that there are several systems out there running two 9800 GTX+'s and they occasionally beat a GTX 280, or 285. And a GTS 250 is just a repackaged 9800 GTX+. So i would say, yes, it would be at least equivalent to a GTX 275, but that all depends on the rest of your system. But it all looks pretty good to me.

Did you know the GTX 275 isnt much less powerful and costs a LOT less (here in the UK it does.)

Also 3 way SLI is terrible price/performance, normal SLI is preferable but only if your using high resolutions.

Daytona_178

OK few of points, one- yes, i am using a high resolution, i think 1920 x 1080 qualifies as high, two- i know that tri sli is horrible scaling, but it sounds so cool to say you have three gtx 285's, so if i have extra money after i buy the first two, then I'll get a third,

and last,

the price difference between them is only 50$

GTX 275 $250

GTX 285 $300

if I'm spending that much on a card, I'll buy the 285. i already made the mistake of not getting the best once. :(

overclock your GPU, you can easily get it from 576mhz to 650mhz or 700mhz, and that makes a big difference, the other thing is, why are you even using AA?

i play Crysis maxed out with like 4xAA or 2xAA, @ 1080p, but I'm just a G...8)

but really, at our resolution, you don't need AA, it's just not necessary.

EDIT: Oh ya, and i get like 30-40fps, never below 30, never...

it seems to me like no one is having any problems, everyone just likes what they have, go with what you want, i think they really stepped up the quality control on the x58 boards. personally i like evga, but they are a little bit more money than the rest right now.

i havea problem. when i play the game for 3-10min it automatically exits the game andit displays no error. ihave updated everything i could get graphic updates, windows updates.etc.any suggestion

gohan57

i have a suggestion, start your own thread...

as to the TC-- you should try to install the game, at least one copy, on another computer, if one is available, maybe a friends or something, it is possible that you got two corrupt copies of a game. it's also possible that your video card is going out and it's just something about those later levels that shows off the problems with the card. I'm not sure. but i hope it's not the latter, because idk of many options when it comes to replacing the video card on a laptop.

OK, you wont like this, but if you've ever torrented anything before, or thought about it, now is the time to start.

OK, this is what to do, go to utorrent (dot) com, on your old computer, download the program, no viruses or anything, so don't worry.

next go to torrentz (dot) com, search for this [geek squad MRI], click the one with the most peers, it'll open another window or tab, if there is a link for a site called mininova, use that, if not use the top one.

now on that page there should be a button somewhere that says Download This Torrent, or something like that, click that, tell it to open it with utorrent,

when thats finished downloading, (it could take awhile), burn it to a DVD using something like imgburn, or alcohol, then load it into the computer, and set your CD/DVD drive to be the main boot device in your bios, when you boot off the disc, you'll get the geek squad menu, not the operating system, click on the FACE button, and just hit next, or continue until it starts the scan. this will fix any hardware, software or malware problems on your computer(well find hardware, not fix), and its easy to use again if this happens to you or anyone you know again, this is the most powerful virus scanner ON THE PLANET!! it combines seven or eight different scanners, including, kapersky, mcaffe, and panda, i don't remember the rest.

**this is frowned upon by best buy:twisted:, as they like to charge you a couple hundred dollars to click the go button for you.** ;)

i decided to get the links for you:

uTorrent

Torrentz

Geek Squad MRI Version 5.0.1

hope this isn't bad!
