the new hud and menus are horrid. deploy screen, etc.
the new orange-colored death cam is the ugliest thing i think i've seen in an FPS game.
the hud scale is terrible. everything is huge.
the "small" minimap remains useless... they removed the big minimap... (**** YOU). the new big map could give me all that info in about 1/6th of my screen instead of full screen.
MS: "Yes, Ryse is a turd nobody wants to buy or play, but.... We paid EA a ton of money to make their first TitanFall game unavailable on Playstation. (sequels on the other hand...)"
@HWGuy14 is that why i own over 200 games on Steam, and paid an average of under $10 for each of them? and they can be installed with one click, updated automatically for life. no need to pirate when PC gaming offers such great benefits.
console gamers on the other hand...let's look at the torrent sites and see how many people have pirated GTA5 for console shall we?
the whole reason GTA games delay their PC release it to force impatient console owners to actually buy the game on console instead of pirate it on pc and try playing it on their mom's laptop. if given the opportunity to pirate, console owners will pirate. publishers know this. ignorant console gamers will remain ignorant of how the world works...
delaying a game for PC does not prevent pc gamers from pirating. it discourages impatient console owners from pirating.
@shannybaybay you can't really make that assumption. the same was true for arcades back in the day. but then consoles came along, offering the same games as what was in the arcade, but didn't require you to enter more quarters each time you died! the arcade died. the consoles replaced them.
now, wait a bit and see how long it takes for this to play out. especially with Steam coming along and trying to make the transition easier and appealing for die-hard console fans, with their new living room solution.
the point is, game devs won't be able to offer their games at 1080p 60fps for the entire cycle. see XBone Ryse as an example.
the industry is now stuck being sequel-based. and the only way to sell sequels is to market them as improvements over previous titles. but they can't actually improve console performance. they can only make trade-offs. sequels with better graphics on the same hardware means... worse of something else to pay for it.
console games will use the only tricks available to them. if they can't upgrade the hardware, they are forced to lower the field of view, and upscale the resolution and lower the frame rate. these are a perfect reason to abandon console and join gaming on PC (or upcoming Steam box perhaps)
meanwhile, pc gaming is jumping to higher refresh rates, higher frame rates, higher resolution, and as always... higher field of view. we could discuss how THAT is the true "next-gen" but the console gamers wouldn't understand what they're missing without actually trying the games on pc.
on top of that pc has superior controls, the capability for modding games, cheaper games, more exclusive games, etc. plus PC can be plugged into your tv if you so desperately want to play on your couch. and you can plug in a controller too.
and now Steam is making a box just for you just to raise awareness and attract those who are scared of building their own PC (which is fun and easy BTW)... pc is the only real future.
