Geeez , Seems a waste to buy this board...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131073

When I might have to upgrade to get the full use of an Evga 8800gt pci-e 2.0?

God , hardware moves so fast. Its so hard to decide.

This board gets great marks on every review I have seen, I wanted SLI but the only boards with SLi and PCIE 2.0 are the 780i and they are mega expensive and buggy.

So not akin to USB1.1 to 2.0. The bandwidth differences are not noticeable on benchmarks? Seems hard to believe given the double rate.

Ok I understand this somewhat.

But if you buy a PCI-e 2.0 can you use it in a 16x board?

And what are the disadvantages of not using a 2.0 interface (in real terms)

I just went through this desicion myself. BUILD IT. It's MUCh more expensive to buy a prebuilt unless you want to gamble you money on a cyberpower DOA or AVAdirect.

1. You get warrenties on each component when you buy them. (and its better that most manufacturers).

2. You will know your PC inside and out.

3. You can afford much better components for the money (and Newegg has financing just as good at the big box guys)

The CONS;

1. No tech support.

2. TIME TIME TIME, Lots of new info to learn, build and test.

3. Only can blame youself if your not happy.

I am building, in the learning stage now. Going to buy soon. Best of luck!

Ok , this is foor pure speculation but here we go anyway.

What will the New Nvidia Cards do for the current Market of 8800 series. Because we have seen prices rise steadily for months now, mainly due to the usually artificially created lack of supply. Will we see a drastic price drop? (I dont really think so myself.)

AND

What MOBO changes might be needed>? Whats is the best MOBO to future proof your system (at least for this year?) In other words if you considering Sli,

650i 680i or the new 780i.

Good Sunday morning to you all!

Been seen alot about this battle of GPU's

Where do you stand. I heard alot of people like Xfire better than Sli (mainly because of scaling issues.)

But look at these benchmarks.

http://it-review.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1483&Itemid=91&limit=1&limitstart=5

(look through all the tests.)

Anyone gota link with a similar comparison. I am specially interested in a contradictory result. (who isn't)
