They make a version with a hard drive, but it's cheaper to just get SD or CF cards. I have the CF version myself. Music sounds good. Video playback isn't too shabby, even though you have to convert the files.

It's not expensive. The player was like $39.99 and I got a 1GB CF card for $22.

The internet is a garbage dump for public opinion. People who have problems are more likely to tell the world their story in some forum than someone who has had nothing but good experiences. Unfortunately, a voluntary survey done by a gaming website holds little credibilty, since the numbers are likely to have some sort of bias. I mean, there's bias in everything, but can't you see idiots who despise a console so much take the survey just to jack the numbers?

Honestly, a better survey would be one conducted by a reputable marketing firm that contacts only CONFIRMED 360 owners and includes a world-wide sampling to see if quality differs by region. Otherwise, pretty much anyone can make anything up. I could tell you that I had to get my 360 repaired six times, and some of you would believe me, despite the fact I don't own a 360 or have any plans to buy one any time in the near future.

JOYGASM!!! Allow me to wipe the drool off my face while I pray that this isn't some sort of annoying joke....

Now for anyone asking "Why on the Wii?" you have to go back in time, when the Dreamcast was still around. At some point in time a NiGHTS sequel was being discussed (rumored) and Sonic Team was looking into motion controlling. The apparatus used to control NiGHTS would most likely have used the same technology that was in the Samba de Amigo maracas. Given what the Wiimote can do, and how they wanted future NiGHTS games to play, it would be no surprise if the game was a Wii exclusive.

Why would the Wii mote be better then the sixaxis for this game? If anything sixaxis makes the most sense... but if it went PS3 I would be sad :(

At this point I could only speculate. Since the PS3's controller only really handles tilt, it wouldn't be much more compelling than using the analog stick. As the Wiimote has more advanced motion-sensing capabilites, the idea of actually "flying" NiGHTS is closer to the vision that Sonic Team had when they were planning the sequel all those years ago.

I do see a difference, but seriously folks...  Is the difference worth $200 extra? It's not like we're going from a PS to a PS2 here.

Am I the only person who doesn't care about the online gaming?

Of course, you know that you can still play online against people around the world even with the friend code. You can do that on the DS.

But I'm still not caring about this.

You're not the only one, and I really don't get why so many people are so annoyed about this. It's really no different than the way instant messenging works. You can chat with random people. To talk to someone consistently, you need a friend's list. ICQ doesn't have the same list as YIM or AIM, so you need to add these people on each different program.

How is PC online gaming any different? There are no unified lists between games like WoW and BF1942, so you have to build up relationships and maintain them separately for each game. I really think what it boils down to is people are just too friggin' lazy to type in the friend codes or manage lists, nevermind you have to do it for all those social networking programs you're like so much.

What would probably make people happy is the Wii equivalent of Trillian for friend codes, where you use one program to manage everything, but everything still remains distinctly different enough to function properly when you're online. Maybe a "Friend Codes" channel or something.

The question is not how many games are going to be in the library by the end of 2007, but how many GOOD games are going to be in the library by the end of 2007.

I somewhat agree with you although I disagree with your reasoning.   The thread starter is right.  People and developers long ago lost faith in Nintendo as a console that can compete on the same playing field as Sony/MS.  The industry simply does not support three consoles.  Especially if those consoles are all equally priced and relatively equal in power.  If Nintendo would have went that same route this time around the result would have been identical to last gen.  The casual gamers would have stuck with the PS3/360 while the Wii would have been seen as the kiddie console that only little kids or Nintendo fanboys buy.

However, Nintendo was smart this round and said they weren't going to compete on the exact same field.  they were going to offer something different.  And people can call the wiimote a "gimmick" or bash the console for the graphics, but the fact is obvious...people want something different.  I know I've been gaming for an eternity (I'm old) and I'm growing jaded with the industry.  I still enjoy playing the sequals and the FF's and MGS's and so on...but it isn't as fresh and exciting as it used to be.  I'm tired of the 800 FPSers that get released every year and think even the best of the best are still just the same game I played 15 years ago in Wolfenstein, only with prettier graphics.  Who cares.  I jumped on the Wii when it came out and couldn't wait for the potential it had.  It was something different and brought gaming back to the days when I practically lived in an arcade.  It was about just having fun.  Nothing else.

The controller and the lower price are clearly what people want and developers are quickly moving to provide the software.  We've heard time and time again that developers wrote off Nintendo and yet when they saw the WIi and the demand/potential for it, they had to scramble to get on board.  That is whay games right now are lackluster, but support is high and the excitement is still there.

Clearly Nintendo has shown that while people still love their graphics and the usual array of games, there is a market out there that Sony and MS were ignoring.  Nintendo is capturing the interest of that market and it has essentially resurected them from the dead...and they are making huge amounts of money also.

ZIMdoom

Finally... Someone who feels the exact same way I do!! Is it odd that I would rather play the 15 year old FPSes? I loved Rise of the Triad back in the day...

Huh... That's interesting, because a week ago, I was hearing things like this:

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2007/03/14/european-store-game-says-only-two-thirds-of-preorders-filled/

So the same store last week, which supposedly only filled 2/3 of the pre-orders, is now having phenominal demand? I suppose it's possible. I just wonder which story is true and which story is false. Guess we'll all find out soon enough.

The CPU is like 50MHz faster....which is nothing noticeable....and the GPU and CPU are more efficient energy wise.
LoeJance

Um.... Try adding 189 to that number... Unless 485+50 = 729 these days.

The Wii's processor is "reported" to be 729MHz. If that number is correct, that means that the processor is 239Mhz faster than the 485MHz Flipper in the Gamecube.

Thank you, considering i don't know what you said, I think you backed up what i was saying. :)

Forgive my original bad math. I fixed my post. It's been a long friggin day of staring at computers and pulling my hair out..
