@Egotte @BlackStar9000 Again, ever since online gaming has been a thing, developers and publishers have always decided whether or not games have DRM measures. Certain games, such as MMO's, obviously have a 'DRM measure' in place, as there's no way to play the game offline.

People keep trying to spin this to talk shit on Sony, when it's clearly just a pathetic attempt to compare them to Microsuck.

@BlackStar9000 @Isaac360 @KonaCorgi You're wrong, it's been confirmed that any and all online multiplayer functionality is going to require a PS Plus subscription. But you were probably too busy sucking Sony's teet to notice.

As for 'unlock fee is for companies to decide', yes, but people are spinning this to make Sony look bad. All developers, since online gaming has been around, have decided whether or not DRM measures will be taken. I think the only reason this was mentioned was so that games that require online functionality, such as MMO's, won't get flack when they require you play online.

@Vidpci @BlackStar9000 They specifically said that Microsoft shot themselves in the foot.. with a cannon. But clearly you didn't even watch the whole video.

@kuda001 @Egotte Yeah, Microsoft claiming they 'listened to gamers' by making a mediocre freemium reboot of KI is a joke. If they had 'listened to gamers', they wouldn't make you pay for every character individually.

@m4a5 It will be years down the line before they even consider it. Since the X1 can only play X1 games with zero backwards compatibility to previous consoles, they're going to have to build a decent catalog of games before doing 75% off deals, and you can guarantee that Microsoft won't be doing sales for any game until its been out for at least 3-4 months.

IF Microsoft does sales comparable to Steam, then the X1 has a chance. But that doesn't change the fact that people don't want restricted lending/resale or 24-hour check-ins, regardless of whatever bullshit excuse they use to try to convince you otherwise.

I'm so sick of seeing people say that the X1 is striving to do what Steam did for PC's to consoles. Unless Microsoft does incredible weekly and seasonal sales on par with Steam's, then it just won't happen. And do any of you honestly see Microsoft doing sales that are worthwhile? All of Xbox 360's sales are a joke, they're for games that no one cares about, and half of the time it's a godsend if they're marked down 50%.

The X1 is going to have a limited library due to zero backwards compatibility, unlike Steam, and any sales that they do won't be at least for a few years down the line. And I really, really, don't see Microsoft being as generous with their sales as Steam is.

@m4a5 @blue_shift_91 Unless Microsoft does incredible weekly and seasonal sales like Steam does, then that's an irrelevant point. And honestly, do you see Microsoft listing entire catalogs of games for 80% off?

@blue_shift_91 There's nothing innovative about 24-hour check-ins. Period.

@razorfett147 @EpicHats @Ushae @ExtremePhobia I think this is being blown out of proportion a tad. Yes, Sony has stated that it's up to the publisher to require online access, but I think this is more of a safety net for games that only have online components, such as MMO's. In that light, publishers have always had the ability to decided whether or not they WANT DRM in their games, which is fine with me.
