Your post is bogus. Motherboards don't have a "core speed" limit. In fact, if you put a third-party heatsink on top of your processor, you'll be able to go above 3ghz.

What processor motherboard do you have?

Kodex, really wouldn't go with a Biostar motherboard. I've used one before (though it wasn't a "gaming" one, but a really simple one), and I've had some problems with it. Also, I've read different forums and they're not good for OC'ing, and are regular for everything else.

As for the 8800GT, that $120 deal is perfect. If you don't have the extra $60 to spare (for the 4850), go with the 8800GT.

You'll be able to run CS:S and BF2 at the highest settings, with up to 8xAA and 16xAF @ 1440x900 without getting under 60 frames-per-second. COD4 will run at medium-high settings @1440x900 with 2xAA, or something similar.

For about $50 more, you could get a 8800GT, which will perform slightly better, but for around $75* more, you'll be able to get a Radeon HD4850, which surpasses both the 8800GT and the 9600GT by a long margin.

*The 9600GT I linked to costs $105. HD4850's go for about $180, but offer about 50% perfomance increase.

Grab a 550w PSU. Browse Newegg. Rosewill's are great.

Well, you could get a 9600GT for $105, Gigabyte 945GCM-S2C for $50 and 2GB of DDR2 667 RAM for $45, for a grand total of ~$200.

I doubt you'll need a PSU.

Well, that is odd. You have a Core2Duo processor yet have DDR RAM? I'm baffled. You'll have a hard time finding a motherboard that: supports C2D processors (socket LGA775), supports PC3200 RAM and has PCI-e x16 slots.

Security bug? Ive had just as much spyware and cookies as XPHelbrec
Perhaps one should consider surfing safer websites. I have no anti-virus running on my computer (haven't had one for more than three months) and I have yet to get infected by something. I do a weekly scan with two different anti-virus programs and three anti-spyware programs, and it's always clean.

Best? I cant even install service pack 1 because its glitchedHelbrec
You're the first person I've heard that has this problem. Are you sure you've tried downloading it off Microsoft's official website?

User friendly? I like how I cant even start a program without it bugging me with UAC and firewalls.Helbrec
UAC can be disabled. Even a three-year-old could find out how to disable it.

The reason they implemented UAC was because people complained that there was no "security check" in XP, yet when they add it to Vista the whole world cries.

Vista is the WORST os ever and ontop of endless ads, they pay people to says its good.Helbrec
Of course...

So you're saying that they shouldn't advertise Vista, which is their best operating system to date, and features less security vulnerabilities and bugs than the previous ones, and on top of that, is more user-friendly?

Ugh.

The campaign was made because people like you spread bogus information about the product.

Go to Start and right-click My Computer and click Properties. What processor does it show? It's at the lower part of the window.

Or to make it more easy, download CPU-Z and check what kind of RAM and processor you have.

Is it too expensive? Both your processor and the RAM will work perfectly on that motherboard I mentioned.

What video card are you planning to buy?

sounds too good to be true! but im really not sure if my Processor would fit the slot...jinglyjinglez
As I said, the processor will fit. The motherboard's designed for that type of CPU's.

and my Ram sticks... i think they are 3200jinglyjinglez
If they're PC3200, they won't fit in that motherboard. They're 184-pin DIMM's, and the motherboard only supports 240-pin ones. Either ditch the RAM you have and buy new, or don't bother upgrading.

You could buy a Gigabyte 945GCM-S2C motherboard and transfer all the things from your current motherboard to this one, and it should work fine. And it has a PCI-e x16 slot.
