I played through Miracle Mask. I did not realize the Professor Layton games were connected in any way. I thought they were all separate episodes.

However, after playing through Miracle Mask, it doesn't seem to really tie into the game before and after, aside from some references. It's a mostly self-contained story as far as I can tell. I know some of the revelations at the end are likely characters from the game before it, but what exactly did I miss out on having not played The Last Specter?

Thanks!

I would say Titanfall, watch_dogs, The Division

I don't really remember what else is supposed to be coming out

Typical. All PC gamers have to look forward to are multiplatform games.

I'm looking forward to Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei, Project X, Bayonetta 2, Super Smash Bros. 4, Mario Kart 8, Bravely Default, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, Yoshi's New Island, Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Mario Golf: World Tour, etc... Plus one multiplatform game: Dark Souls II.

Being a PC gamer sounds like a sad existence.

It seems like the scope of conversation for this game has been limited by PC gamers jerking off to their slightly better performance than 7-8+ year old consoles. Never mind that they never got Demon's Souls and had to wait a whole year for Dark Souls. This is all that matters.

And of course the first inflammatory comments made in this thread are by PC gamers. No other group of gamers is pathetic enough to extract their self-worth from their video game platform of choice that they had nothing to do with.

Say what you will, but at least Hitler shaved somewhat regularly and didn't substitute Mountain Dew and Cheetos for a diet.

Console gamer here. I hate PC games. But I hate indie games more.

Glad you managed to work in being a passive-aggressive elitist when the subject matter didn't call for it all. That's a certain level of smug us console gamers can never hope to achieve.

I'm glad you felt the need to get this off your chest.

Every console gamer on here is a weak little loser who bends over for PC gamers.

As if most developers aim to cater to the PC gamers with the highest performance PCs. Most aim for the PC players who have a far inferior performance than the new consoles.

It's got the second worst battle system out of every FF but it's got a good story so have fun with that

That's discouraging to hear, considering the first couple of Final Fantasy games' battle systems are incredibly basic.

I'm gonna complain about this review even though I haven't played it myself!

If the reviewer makes bad points, then I don't see why you can't complain about the review. What if the reviewer said, "Seriously? You're a monkey who acts like a human? That's dumb, 6/10." That's an extreme circumstances of course, but GameSpot reviewers have gotten awfully close before (and yes, I know he's an ape).

Let's take Jeff Gerstmann's review of Metal Gear Solid as an example: "Once you know exactly what to do and skip as much plot as possible, you can run through the game in three hours or less." Without playing the game, you can tell that Jeff Gersmann is a fat dumbass that doesn't know what he's talking about. Even lengthy games like Dark Souls, Demon's Souls, Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Paper Mario, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, etc. can be beaten in under three hours.

So yes, I will say this review is stupid. Because it is.

I actually decided to read this review. It's so poorly done, it reminds me of Jeff Gerstmann's style. I like how in the conclusion, he suddenly forgets to mention the quality of the visuals, and so he shoehorns it in there when he is supposed to be summing up the last couple of paragraphs. It seems rushed to me. He didn't even mention anything about the sound.
